Three Things To Watch During ABC’s One-Night Democratic Debate

With billionaire Tom Steyer falling one poll short of the September debate, 10 candidates will crowd onto the stage Thursday for only one night of sparring.

Sure would be nice if ALL the DEM candidates realized that Trump and the GOP are the clear, present, and future danger to the country, not each other…

Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?

“Perhaps these tropical climes provide a clue as to what unusual garb tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang has been hinting that he’ll whip out. We at TPM are prepared for everything from a tech bro vest to a gold chain.

Good to see the laser-like focus on existential issues facing The Republic while children are caged, Comrade Barr begins the show trials, and the raccoon-faced Adderall-addict in the clown wig continues his toilet-tweeting spiral into launch-code madness.

I think Biden might be wishing he had as many plans as Warren. I hope he stays away from the credit card corporate contributions.
Plans! We don’t need no…

Short answer / nutshell : though he’s safe, he thinks that he has to do something. It’s a big risk, but he needs to distance from her.

If someone brings up Biden’s actions in the Anita Hill/ Thomas controversy he’s going to get plenty of distance from her.

I have a team event that kicks off prior to the debate and will last beyond the debate. Not sure I’ll miss anything, given there are still too many on the stage, but it is nice that all of them are now in one place.

The three things I’d like to see are:

1 - pointing out in concrete terms what the candidate would do as President to begin reversing the damage the current administration has wrought.

2 - on the universal health care question, bang the drum on how it is paid for because the insurance companies won’t be taking the patient’s hard-earned money and applying 90% of it to fees and overhead salaries.

3 - looking George and company square in the eye when the moderators try to start a fight among the candidates with ‘Really, George?’ while giving him the hairy eyeball.

Other than that, I really have no interest in this, but I’ll catch up on here after the team event.

That could happen, but how she felt about Thomas will then be on the table.

Mind you, she wasnt in government then, but still.

I’m not mentioning Harris or the others (Bernie’s going to be quiet as a church mouse), because even if they were to go there, their sincerity will again be questioned.

I will not watch because only three ,maybe four, should be in the debate.

I think that any negative thoughts on Thomas could only help her gain support with fair minded voters.

I’ve no idea.

Her Republican past is barely mentioned and it’s usually done to ridicule her (Sarandon)

That’s a good point. I actually forgot about that. Do you know how long she was a Republican and how closely she adhered to party line while in that gang? I’ll have to look in to that part of her history.
Sarandon, eeeww!

She was a Republican until 1996.

Damn…but I was drunk until 1980 so there is hope for her, too.

And Trump was a Democrat until when…?

It wasn’t illegal to be Republican back then. It’s not illegal to change one’s party affiliation. It’s a ridiculous assertion and should be shut down.

somewhat O/t

My first candidate choice is considered by some to be a cop and my second choice is Biden.

I think he is correct not to over-promise or appear to be pandering. Part of the reason the people who support him seem to trust him.
