This Supreme Court Case Could Make Or Break The Biden Presidency

I’m old enough to remember when Vice President Dick Cheney was going to run down the remaining Democrats with dogs there at the beginning of the permanent GOP majority of the early aughts.

Yup. Can keep running back through history of the dire warnings of things that never quite came to pass. Expect this to be no different. Good chance that we lose the house and senate and nothing at all happens for the next couple of years, but that’ll build up the next battle lines for 2024…

People forget that Huxley sort of beat Orwell to the punch in a way. Anyway, fun with juxtaposition…

O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in’t.
— William Shakespeare, The Tempest

Humanity i love you
because you would rather black the boots of
success than enquire whose soul dangles from his
watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both

parties and because you
unflinchingly applaud all
songs containing the words country home and
mother when sung at the old howard

Humanity i love you because
when you’re hard up you pawn your
intelligence to buy a drink and when
you’re flush pride keeps

you from the pawn shop and
because you are continually committing
nuisances but more
especially in your own house

Humanity i love you because you
are perpetually putting the secret of
life in your pants and forgetting
it’s there and sitting down

on it
and because you are
forever making poems in the lap
of death Humanity

i hate you

As in same old same old.

But I think we can hang on to what we have and maybe shore it up somewhat in the midterms.

I certainly hope so. Just won’t be too surprised or depressed if we don’t. Worst case is just a stalemate, but at least with a President who’s not going to wander off and do something stupid.

Hopefully Roberts is handed some information by and from concerned (for a good reason) Earthlings.

It’s amazing to me that thorny scientific and technical issues are adjudicated by non-scientific and non-technical judges and know-nothing politicians, but that is the story about how the human race destroyed Earth.

Yeah, and they thought they had achieved it by “convincing people”. When they found out that wasn’t the case and that demographic shifts were still murdering their power while they slept, they turned towards structural means.

Lucky for us our structure ain’t all that solid. hahahahahahahahahaha

Agreed. The showdown is here. He is elected and they are not.

Ruling by fiat means never having to explain yourself to anyone.

We shall see. All they need is 5 neofascist Christian dominionists to rubber stamp their ability to ignore state popular votes and have their gerrymandered KKKult powwows decide who the electors and winners are. Seems pretty solid to me.

hahahahaha sure sure - solid when it suits your purposes, in pieces when that is the narrative.

These things are not contradictory. One can easily create a process that generates solid, predictable, easily manipulated and controlled outcomes by exploiting the loopholes and organizational/structural failures in a larger overall system.

I predict a severe shortage of monkey wrenches in the near future. Stock up now!

Yes, which is why I was sick to my stomach as the outcome became clear. I wasn’t alone, of course. Millions of others, including the nearly inconsolable 20-something female friend I comforted (while holding back my own tears) felt the same.

Which is exactly why the Trumpist Party is so hell-bent on mangling the electoral process. They are outnumbered on everything, but know how to manufacture a hold on power. Which again leads me to yet another “Fuck you, Manchin and Sinema” moment.

My feeling was that we were in grave danger when I witnessed both the Dem and GOP 2016 Conventions.

The former was silly…with the Bernie/Hillary schism prominent
The latter was menacing and revanchist

The former featured voting as a cavalier whim
The latter featured revanchist-bloc-action as voting behavior

I knew we were in danger when I found out that Wikileaks worked for Putin.
