Usually the sitting POTUS doesn’t start “campaigning” until after Super Tuesday, or that’s how I remember it.
The other thing is Joe needs to run his campaign his way, don’t try to out do Trump, don’t try to play Trump’s game, Joe needs to be Joe.
Those of us that have been around the block for forty years know what to look for, what we like and don’t like. And it always comes down to “are you better off now after 4 years of Joe, or when Donnie was President”. To me the Joe message needs to include the latest description of what is happening with Mom’s For Liberty with their book banns, the war on transgendered children. Whoever came up with the line “these folks want to parent your children” should ring loud and true.
You may be underestimating the “Fuck you! I got mine!” tendency on the part of republicans.

Unlikely event that the Democrats hold the Senate??? I think with Trump at the top of the ticket, not only will we hold the Senate, but I think it is possible to win seats in TX and FL, which we wouldn’t ordinarily win! And that is not being Pollyanna! Don’t underestimate Dobbs! And if the DNC put money into these races, they could be competitive against 2 unpopular Senators!
So (serious question) what does Elmo get for his “investment” this time around?
Is It The 2020s Or The 1920s?
The very wealthy (some more by appearance), trying to make decisions for the country from their manors and mansions, decrying the little people who have made them rich beyond measure, but poor for reasons, who hobnob with the the elites across the globe and clink brandy glasses at each rebuff of the rabble. Next up, peacocks on their massive lawns, summer houses by the sea and arranged marriages among their progeny.
Too bad for Elon – Jeff Bezos has now surpassed Elon in wealth.
(Curtsying, exits stage right)
The progressive wing of the party could learn a lot from Schiff’s application of strategic unscrupulousness. He’ll make a very successful senator.
TPM tries to be all things to all people.
This is great news for Ruben Galago because Kari Lake is still insisting she won the governors race. Bull goose looney running against a solid Dem/former Marine/current US Rep.
Regarding exit polls, I think at least 70% of the R’s in exit polls who say they won’t vote for Trump will probably come around and vote for him in November, because anyone but a Democrat. The rest is an unknown. Maybe they’ll stay home? Maybe not. Hard to predict. They would jump to a third party candidate but it’s getting late in the cycle for one to show up.
Biden’s polling is being weighed down by Gaza, and that situation won’t be the same by next Fall as it is now. Until Gaza settles into a post-war situation I’m ignoring Biden’s favorability polling.
The national polls are just a current snapshot and I’m going with the general wisdom that not that many people are paying attention to the election yet. It won’t be until Labor Day that polls will start to be more predictive, and there’s a lot that can happen with both Biden and Trump before then.
As for Biden getting out there more, it does seem to me that his team is starting to wake up and be less protective than they’ve been. They’re starting to understand that it’s more important to show that he’s energetic and capable even if he’s still a gaffe machine like he’s always been. That’s what people need to see.
Don’t forget the fortified private islands.

“The House is expected to vote on Wednesday to pass a package of six government funding bills as lawmakers race the clock to get the legislation through both chambers before an end of the week shutdown deadline.”
… … … … …
Same “up against a deadline” bullshit
The lot of 'em deserve to be fired for fooling around and not doing their jobs. An annual budget is how this is supposed to be done but the House has their collective head so far up their ass they can see daylight. There was a time when budgets were passed annually and not as a “continuing resolution”. In any other job this crowd would have been fired long ago
“[T]he debates will be scrutinized less for the agenda each candidate would bring to the White House than for whether verbal slips and tortured locution.”
You want to say that the FNYT here boldly predicts that it will continue the crappy, superficial, misleading coverage that it has been practicing for years. But! Everybody knows that it will highlight and gnaw endlessly Biden’s slips in particular.
As major media outlets go, at least in its political reporting, it’s a national curse.
Been there. A tribute to early twentieth century Russian decadence.
Haley just suspended her campaign.
And I’m suspending my disbelief!
Onerous tariffs on the import of every electric car with a foreign nameplate on the bumper.
