The NYT has now confirmed that the two men did meet Sunday at Mar-a-Lago, a startling image of the current era: The South African immigrant-turned-billionaire-turned-right-wing-anti-immigrant-provocateur holding the purse strings for the anti-immigrant, would-be-authoritarian seeking to reclaim the presidency he failed to seize in an attempted co
ETTD, Elon.
Feel free to go down that path, but it won’t end well for you.
No secret why it was pulled. The editors must have just returned from a 3 martini business lunch when they OK’d that one. But then what did they expect, send a journalist who normally covers the relatively impoverished world of professional cycling, maybe that decision was made after 3 martinis too.
I say relatively impoverished because I can look at a Team bus with a minimum of 24 bikes at a minimum of $20,000 a pop for the “road frames” and going up on time trial bikes. Let’s not even get started on the kit (uniforms) and shoes of the riders. It’s probably a safe bet to guess that each rider requires about $100,000 of capital investment to put them on the road.
To me that looks like serious money, but then we’ll talk about F1. That outlay on the cyclist might cover a new set of brakes for an F1 car. I thought it looked cool when I was in Elementary school, and didn’t think much about it until I hit college. Her basic premise that it’s a dick wagging vehicle for the billionaires behind massive internationals is right on target.
Bad form to tell the masters of the universe they’re assholes in an industry rag.
nb. Ha, INEOS. Feet in both camps. Maybe there’s a CEO who feels the need to compensate.
The always credible news source Fux News reports that last night’s victory celebration at the Malignant Loser’s tacky estate was missing one key element. Booze. According to their Aishah Hasnie:
"‘Here in Mar-a-Lago again the party getting underway just about 200 people I would say here already,’ she concluded. "There is no open bar and there is a soda bar, a pop bar if you want to call it if you’re from the midwest but we [have] no free alcohol at least tonight here in Mar-a-Lago.
'I think it’s gonna be a short party, ’ Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum replied."
Bwahaha. It looks like the Malignant Loser’s campaign is running out of money. No report on whether the Malignant Loser’s gold high top sneakers were offered for sale.
To make matters worse, the Malignant Loser’s speech was a lie-filled, low energy grievance party, per Biden campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu on CNN:
Anyone who can look at Fat Boy and Biden and complain about Biden’s age needs a serious kick in the nuts, followed by being repeatedly kicked in the ass until said imbecile begs for mercy. There is nothing so self-indulgent or self-important as this kind of navel gazing horseshit…
When orange guy suddenly found himself $500 million in the hole, I was thinking, I wonder if Elon will extend a helping hand. And there it is. When you have money, you can buy all the access and power you want.
As for the Road & Track article, it’s brilliant … and obvious why the magazine pulled it. I imagine Hearst’s advertising department got an earful from the wealthy F1 types (and Texans – the story is set in Texas) and leaned on management to quash it. So much for church and state, which is a preview of orange guy-led America.
Dude is already headed for an epic crash, even without any help from the orange anti-Midas. Stupid business decisions, drug use, diving ever deeper into the RWNJ rabbit hole, too much money and power to listen to any advice. He’s well on track to end up as the Howard Hughes of our time.
From what I heard Trump underperformed everywhere and lost in Vermont. I think he is set up to be an easy target in November. I am sure we are going to get an alarmist report from the NYT that Trump is about to become President despite being deeply unpopular.
