First lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, said that the first lady’s speech, which is scheduled to headline the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, would “definitely” be “very uplifting and positive.”

I can stare at her and know what has been uplifted from head to toe and wonder if I paid for it somehow.
Yeah, Michelle already rehearsed it for her at the DNC.
I try hard to remember that First Ladies are essentially “civilians,” in the Corleones’ sense of the term, but I find it very difficult to find any upside, or uplift, in this particular FLOTUS. She seems to me to be a vapid trophy wife, a Stepford wannabe. On the other hand, my Trumper friends assert she is the classiest FLOTUS ever, the second coming of Jackie Kennedy, because she wears nice clothes and speaks 5 languages(!!). In my experience, most people in Central Europe speak multiple languages, but my friends persist in believing that makes her some kind of genius.
She can hardly speak English…
But she’s fluent in $$$ — in fact, it’s her native tongue.

It was either in Bethany Bryan’s or Kate Bennett’s book that states that Melania and Donald think alike. Maybe we haven’t figured that out since she doesn’t speak English best.

The New York state attorney general is investigating whether Donald Trump and the Trump Organization improperly manipulated the value of the U.S. president’s assets to secure loans and obtain economic and tax benefits, and said Trump’s son Eric has been uncooperative in the civil probe.
The disclosure was made in a filing on Monday with a New York state court in Manhattan, where Attorney General Letitia James is demanding that the Trump Organization, Eric Trump and others comply with subpoenas from her office.

I appreciate her ongoing project to keep her son away from his father. I do not appreciate her efforts to put lipstick on her husband’s incompetence, corruption, and cruelty. Watching her do so would be nauseating and psychologically unhealthy.
