I toured with a German musician throughout Europe and we went from the Czech Republic all the way through France and up to Northern Ireland on one tour, and he could speak all the languages from Russian, Italian, French, English etc. Melania is nowhere near that sort of ability. I’m not sure she understands English all that well. My friend from Germany was always fascinated by slang words and colloquial sayings and would find out the meaning as soon as he heard something new and different. Then he would start using what he’d learned in casual conversation.

I did something very important to me today. I filled out my mail-in ballot for our Arizona Presidential preference Primary election. I don’t trust the mail so I took it myself to our County Recorder’s office and put it in the collection box myself. Problem with the mail is our mail is taken from here in Tucson to Phoenix to get sorted and then brought back to be delivered. That’s a near 250 mile trip. I live 1.7 miles from the Recorder’s office… I don’t want my ballot “lost”…

In my neighborhood Spanish is commonly heard. Down the road a short piece at Aqua Vita grocery market languages from India can be heard as that is where the owners of this wonderful local market are from.
Trump’s problem is he doesn’t speak anything but English so he assumes that is how it is everywhere for all people. Wrong!!!

That would be the normal dynamic, but I wonder if the lenders would hold off until the election in November instead of rushing to collect? It isn’t every debtor who has a chance of being the next President, and Trump’s propensity for taking revenge on his enemies is well known.
There is also the likelihood of death threats for bank officials calling in loans, because you know Trump would be ranting and calling them by name in his online posts. It’s not the usual thing a bank has to face with a debtor.
I look for Trump to stage some sort of counter ceremony/speech/rally directly opposite the SOTU. With a smattering of rightwing news outlets actually televising it instead of the SOTU. Or taped, directly afterwards, presented as an instant rebuttal.

There is some benefit to SCOTUS taking it up now, in terms of clarity and finality. That benefit is vastly outweighed by the need to get the case to trial, but it is nevertheless real.
And of course, they could have agreed to take the case directly back in December.
