The Pentagon is Setting Congress Up For a Vote That Could Provide Backdoor War Authorization

Originally published at: The Pentagon is Setting Congress Up For a Vote That Could Provide Backdoor War Authorization - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Since President Donald Trump started to wage war against Iran without authorization from Congress and seemingly without much logistical or financial planning, there have been reports that the White House may request that congressional lawmakers authorize emergency supplemental funding to bolster his unauthorized war. Early reporting on the possible supplemental request suggested that the White…

No discussion of additional war funding unless and until Hegseth installs a real IG in the office he now uses as his makeup studio and resells all his cosmetics on the secondary market. And then the discussion should be brief and unsatisfactory from DOD’s point of view.

Utter destruction and devastation. Cannot provide a reason for having started the war other than being egged on by Saudi Arabia and Bibi Netanyahu.

Doesn’t know when the war will end, but the secretary of war says that all is going according to schedule. There seems to be expulsion of those with critical knowledge on way to start a war, how to execute a war, or how to get out of a war.

Did they have any pre-war thoughts about the price of oil whatsoever?

And now the band of losers in the White House are lifting the tariffs on Iran oil. The whole administration is as confused as the figurehead for it is. Of course that’s how it works.

I am hearing that plans for a post-war Iran are being drawn up and there are two options being discussed.

Option 1 is to make Iran an US state called New Iran; Jared Kushner and Laura Loomer are in the running for the post of Governor of the Great State of New Iran. The two-letter abbreviation is going to be NI.

Option 2 is for the UAE to conquer, merge with and rule Iran as a benevolent monarchy. The new state will be called UAPE for United Arab Persian Empire.

I like Option 2. The Emirati rulers are excellent and can bring peace, stability, and prosperity, not just to Iran but also to the Middle East as they have good relationships with Israel and have given the First Family some nice gifts.

Of course, they want more money.

The reports of them bleeding off the excess funds they already had kind of makes the whole request a bit of BS.

It would be nice if the Dems would all say no, based on the lobster, crab and steaks expenditures, but they won’t. It’ll go through.

I maintain: when the First Felon leaves office, the Treasury will be empty.

Will the inhabitants speak Arabic, Farsi, or what?

Since you’ve asked, all Islamic states migrate to speaking Arabic over time. Farsi uses the Arabic script and will be gone.

Maybe if I take a nap alla this crazy will dissolve and the timeline will be based on kindness and caring for our fellow humans…

I am not sure Europe will say that. Canada, the UK, Europe, and Saudi Arabia have been loyal concubines and obedient lapdogs of the United States for more than a century. They’ll do some smoke and mirrors kabuki theater for a while but will come around to sniff, nutlick, and cower with tails tucked in a week or month. President Trump is tough enough to extract that level of loyalty.

Just say no.

I wonder if even half the Dems in congress have the spine to vote against this. I doubt it. This will be a bipartisan war very soon, and Chuck and Hakeem will be out there saying they voted against it before they voted for it, or whining about ‘process’ with no answer for why they approved funding if it’s an illegal war.

I wouldn’t expect the Dems to do anything other than the opposite of what they should do.

90 million Farsi speakers are not gonna abandon the language. How many languages in Europe use the same alphabet? The Koran is in Arabic and as it is central to Islam folks learn another language. Because a person understands two languages does not mean automatically abandoning one for the other. And Farsi (Persian) has been around for 2500 years.

I don’t disagree. But the shifts toward Arabic across wide swaths of North Africa and Middle East following their islamization have been tangible. Hebrew disappeared until it was revived. Farsi is a civilizational language and could weather the transition better than other languages have. Turkish has maintained its linguistic identity and now uses the Latin alphabet, but that it is due to Ataturk. The vocabulary of Bosnian has been replaced substantially. Pan-islamism is a powerful unifying force, and English often emerges as the default second language in many non-English speaking countries.
