The New White House Bro Briefing

Originally published at: The New White House Bro Briefing - TPM – Talking Points Memo

As he was yukking it up with Daily Wire commentator and vehement anti-LGBTQ provocateur Michael Knowles on his podcast, “Triggered With Donald Trump Jr.,” this week, the president-elect’s eldest son made something of an announcement about his and his father’s latest scheme to go after mainstream news sources during Trump II. “I wonder now, as your…

Going to be really interesting seeing which of the bros actually care to hear them give press briefings regularly because this is the first step to cancelling the briefing all together.

The next administration is going to be one of grift and theft, with a whole lot of damage in its wake. You don’t run that kind of administration out in the open, the sooner the big guys realize that and spend their resources accordingly the better off we’ll be.

Giving thanks this year that guys like TPM already see this and can hopefully push everyone in their direction. Happy Thanksgiving Ya’ll!

Why stop at podcasters? Why not take the most liked X commentators, who can fire off their bon mots as the Press Secretary speaks? Live coverage!

I would love to not see CBS, NBC, ABC and others not at the daily briefings. Have those people out and about sniffing out stories and actual news. And then report on it.

They are really flooding the zone with shit non-stop this time around; it’s a gish gallop on steroids.

Feces aside, it’s also hard to look at DJjr and not see an abused child.

Trump values TV ratings above all. Exclude the major networks and ratings plummet. This dog don’t hunt.

As if new conferences, press briefings - whatever they’re called - are worth anything to real media in Trump times.

They real media needs to cover what Trump and the kakistocrats are doing not what they’re saying.

This will either be the death of “bothsiderism” or its greatest promotion. Depends on whether the MSN has any principles left.

Maybe if the networks, NYT, WaPo etc finally realize that unless they literally print or broadcast what Trump tells them, he will treat them like criminals and mortal enemies, then they’ll stop bending over backwards to be “fair” to him, and move a bit closer to reporting the truth.

I see what you did there. Lol.

Exactly.

They like to say “fuck your feelings” to others but get their own panties in a knot over the slightest thing.

Serves the MFers right.

Sequels are rarely as good as the original. Not that the original may be good either.

My money is on
:ballot_box_with_check: Both of the above

I don’t have any very high expectations that someone whose entire career has been built on “insider” access steno-journalism (feel free to plug in the names of your usual suspects here) to suddenly pivot and become an ace investigative reporter, or even push back very hard on obvious nonsense. In fact, a lot of them will probably go pretty far down the self-abasement sinkhole in a desperate effort to preserve their special access.

But I do expect plenty of other folks who find themselves frozen out of the usual channels, and who never had that magical special access to begin with, to find other ways of digging up the info they need to get their stories filed.

Today I learned that I am represented by a Democrat in the House. He managed to defeat Michelle Steel. I received campaign information about her. The title of it was What Has Michelle Steel done? I opened it up and each page was blank.

Not sure if it is legit. The new face of America.

Congratulations.

Steel is a real piece of work. Article from 2020:

Kinda surprised they let their daughter anywhere near UCSC in the first place.

ETA: About 600 votes. That’s how close this one was. Well done, OC Dems.
