I know the Little Miami River that flows thru southwestern Ohio. It’s shallow on most of its run. Even in normal years. For the Secret Service to abnormally flood this creek for their crafts is stupid and wasteful.

Send the average layman up in a Cessna 150 in Texas in August, and said layman will pretty quickly smell that hot air is more turbulent. So your average layman smell test doesn’t pass my average layman smell test.

Yes, but it wouldn’t be the same if they weren’t being oppressed.
Just like with the most powerful man in the country, its just not the same if they’re not the target of injustice.

I guess you want to strip them of their right to play the victim 24/7. I guess their freedom to associate with those who are like them is unimportant to you. Even your pointing out that they already have these gathering places is violating their rights. Expect a class action suit.

I saw a mention on MM about why is fascism/autocracy coming to America now? Well I didn’t follow to read what that author was asserting…but I have my own element to add to the mix.
80 years.

It has proven out in other venues…but once older children can’t hear the stories from their older grandparents…knowledge, wisdom, and personal consequences from epoch-shaking historic events can no longer inform people. Even under the best of circumstances where the cause/effect are obvious, provable, and even documented. Where we have working education and civics and belief in science.

Now look at the cacophony and know-nothingness and constant avalanche of trivial information if not misinformation.

I guess that I am a little concerned that an active structural engineer fails to use structural engineering principles in construction. I do not want to be in the edifices where he has contributed.

If it could be performed by an average layman, then there would not exist the entire field of structural engineering.

For every supporter of the Confederacy, who says “it wasn’t about slavery” - By the way, at the time of the Confederacy, the US population was 9 million people, of with 3 million were slaves.

The Confederate version used the word “slaves,” unlike the U.S. Constitution. One article banned any Confederate state from making slavery illegal. Another ensured that enslavers could travel between Confederate states with their slaves.

The Confederate constitution also accounted for enslaved people as three-fifths of a state’s population (like the U.S. Constitution did at the time), and it required that any new territory acquired by the nation allow slavery.

An addition to their Bill of Rights:
One additional right stated that the government couldn’t impair “the right of property in negro slaves” to owners.

If there’s ever a Democrat there again, the bill for removal of 60,000 pieces of garish gold bullshit is gonna be massive. And the GOP will go ballistic on the unnecessary Democratic spending.

This history doesn’t show TWO dictatorial despots die after a Kamchatka earthquake. Damned cruel to force a choice between Putin or Trump.
