Another reason why the 2028 Olympics are going to be a major flop with lots of countries boycotting this farce!
With the surge in hiring of ICE officers it will be possible to post them in all sorts of settings that immigrants can’t avoid needing. An ICE officer in every emergency room, demanding to see your papers, would increase deportations. What’s a person going to do with a big gash in their leg or a compound fracture of the arm, avoid medical help in order to avoid a DHS arrest? It’s going to get ugly as ICE ramps up hiring.
There will be an entire network of support businesses, created where immigrants can secretly get what they need, out of the public eye and scrutiny of ICE. Even now I read of citizens doing their shopping for them, so they can’t be snatched from a grocery aisle. It really is 1930s Germany all over again.
Your tax dollars at work. No need to fund national parks and waterways. Save that money for something really important.
Technically, it was for the Secret Service so their motorized watercraft could follow along.
Oh, I’m sure she’d be his sex slave for a few years.
Which is why I heave big sighs when somehow, we’re told, we have to make nice with such people and respect their ignorance to our own detriment. I’m exhausted.
The special foie gras and caviar laden pontoon boats were a nice touch.
Buyers’ remorse is a tough gig.
Remember when the New York Times went ballistic when they alleged that Al Gore ordered the Army Corps Of Engineers to open the floodgates on a California dam to raise the level of a creek he was doing a kayaking trip on? The Times endlessly threw a fit about that.
Count on the Times to be absolutely silent with this stunt from Tammy Faye Vance!
Ok, I’m confused. I get the Tm Cook ass kissing behavior but what was it that got put together so very carefully on trump’s desk?
Did it make noises?
I’m deaf and when I have hearing aids in my ears my phone for some unknown tech reason stays silent.
Just waiting for His Divine Ass-Holeyness to paint the White House Gold…
Completely agree, but I’m still going to reshare my opinion on the “controversy.”
This is the part I think is the most relevant though:
“It’s good to be on the side of democracy, the rule of law, and basic human decency.”
Trump and the GOP are fortunate this is not a universal sentiment.
I hope nobody shows up.
Who wants to pay $15,000 to get a visa to come to the US to see the Olympic Games knowing that ICE may detain and arrest them if they have a darker skin tone?..and the ICE officer beating them up is Dean Cain???
I read a book about the historical vision of many contemporary Russians when it comes to Stalinism and such, and I think the title fits here for this White historical vision of the Old South --" It Was a Long Time Ago, and It Never Happened Anyway"
I found the book, by David Satter, to be well worth reading, too. along with some other writings about the way nostalgia seriously taints the historical understanding of many people in the ex-Soviet states today – making them misty-eyed about horrible stutt that happened in the past because they romanticize their teen years or the world of their grandparents or something. All so relevant to the MAGA movement and general Trumpiness here, I think…
But the bad news is I’ve never seen anybody report that someone somewhere has found a solution to this obviously widespread dangerous human failing – other than letting generations pass and then hope that the really olden days lose their charm for many, since very few people who long for the days of their own youth ever seem to get over that delusion.
