The Legal Fight Against Trump's Library Of Congress Power Grab Begins

And as I mentioned in another comment, Bernie touring with AOC is an even better example.

i’ve noticed noticed how bloated his face is…he cannot fully open his eyes and in his tv rants…he always reverts to his old speechs[?] where he always goes back to whatever…i just cant figure out why TRUMPF etal are still yammering about JOE BIDEN, unless it is a means to divert the audience from trumpfs stupid rants.

I suspect his party life of years gone by included yachts.

More assertions. If you would expand on the latter one, I might learn something from you. We might get into an exchange about what each of us is referring to when we speak of one person being a version of the other.

I was thinking of Jeffries as a supreme (and supremely good) proceduralist, someone not very effective at communicating to the wider public (which should be a higher priority among Dems, in my opinion), someone from a large city and liberal bastion on one of the coasts, a minority “face” for the party and a first in the position as Dem House leader but not a firebrand. Many desirable ways in which the two are alike, of course. But they are important ways in which Jeffries is a younger version of Pelosi.

I think the increased recognition of autistic behaviors results in more kids and adults being placed on the spectrum. As an engineer, it was not lost on me how many of my brilliant peers were socially awkward and inept when interacting with others, not to mention how many were best left to their peregrinations in their cubicles owing to their inability to function in groups.

A little more from the article –

Fetterman, Often Absent From Senate, Says He Has Been Shamed Into Returning

The first-term Pennsylvania Democrat said his openness about his mental health issues has been “weaponized” against him, prompting him to start showing up for votes and hearings he considers useless.

When Senator John Fetterman, Democrat of Pennsylvania, showed up at a hearing on May 8 with Sam Altman, the chief executive of OpenAI, his colleagues were surprised to see him. Until then, his chair on the dais of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee had sat empty all year.

But under intense scrutiny about his mental health and his ability to function in his job, Mr. Fetterman has been in damage control mode, attending hearings and votes that he had been routinely skipping over the past year. His colleagues, some of whom have privately described him as absent from the Senate and troubled when he is there, are trying to be supportive.

“Good thoughts, Senator Fetterman,” Senator Amy Klobuchar, Democrat of Minnesota, said encouragingly after Mr. Fetterman finished his turn questioning Mr. Altman.

Mr. Fetterman does not enjoy participating in these hearings that he has sat through in recent weeks as he seeks to prove that he is capable of performing the job he was elected to do until 2028. In fact, at a critical moment for the country, he appears to have little interest in the day-to-day work of serving in the United States Senate.

In an interview, Mr. Fetterman, who represents 13 million people, said he felt he had been unfairly shamed into fulfilling senatorial duties, such as participating in committee work and casting procedural votes on the floor, dismissing them as a “performative” waste of time.

Instead, he said he was “showing up because people in the media have weaponized” his absenteeism on Capitol Hill to portray him as mentally unfit, when in fact it is a product of a decision to spend more time at home and less on the mundane tasks of being a senator.

[…]

Hearings also seem to him like a waste of time. Senators question witnesses in order of seniority, leaving Mr. Fetterman, a first-term lawmaker, feeling that by the time his turn comes around, there’s nothing left to ask. He has told people it is like making a plate out of the dregs of a buffet bar.

Mr. Fetterman has also foregone events in his state. He has avoided hosting town halls with his constituents because he does not want to get heckled by protesters.

Dems holding on too long; I’m inclined to agree with you. Oldsters like myself, an octogenerian, recall how it used to be and are imaginatively flummoxed when it comes to arriving at a future unlike the past. The America I grew up in is done and gone; it will not be coming back. Younger folk may have a vision of an America better than the one I grew up in, and must take the wheel of the ship of state. They will, at any rate, for better or worse. We old folks can advise, but must get out of their way.

They’ve created (supposedly in response to 9/11) a new, undisciplined law enforcement agency, unencumbered by due process and the rule of law, and let them run wild. ICE does not have the public service culture of LEOs and the military… they’re a militia. And it’s working.

The sick fuck DID own a yacht once, formerly owned by arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi. And – surprise surprise – the sick fuck sold it for a $9 million loss (according to Wikipedia).

Yeah, I’d think if Donnie really had any actual interest in bringing manufacturing back to the US his policies would include positive aid for reshoring rather than just punishing our trading partners and this nation’s consumers. (ed.)
He’s been on this kick for 8+ years; so, I’ve got to assume that someone called his attention to the advantages of such policies and, yet, they’re no where to be seen.

We shouldn’t overgeneralize. Pelosi was highly effective, but old. It’s not necessarily a weakness that Jeffries is a younger version of Pelosi.

Bernie is 83.
He’s one of the old people everyone here seems to want to toss to the curb.

Is his case different because he’s more “progressive?” As I pointed out earlier, he says the right progressive things, but he’s not a successful legislator and never has been.
