That lede seems deceiving, I know one or two of these candidates stand over 6 feet.
Plus, 2 women, 1 gay man under 40, an Asian-American, a Jewish man - sure, that’s not a perfect rainbow. But that doesn’t reek of a non inclusive process either.
Match that against the Republican slate of … ummmmmmm… one Impeached Current Occupant, and we don’t look so very bad, do we?
Yeah, a “male lineup” where 2 of 7 candidates are female isn’t a male lineup. 2 of 7 isn’t notably worse than when 20 candidates were running, and may actually be better. (wasn’t it 4 of 22 or thereabouts? They told me there wouldn’t be any math in this discussion)
Booker also wrote a letter to the DNC, co-signed by all seven candidates who did make the stage, asking the organization to reconsider the debate standards for the upcoming events… The DNC rejected the request.
Good. As much as I like Booker (and I do, he and Warren are the only candidates I’ve donated to) when you haven’t been able to increase your polling numbers over the course of a year, there’s no reason to change the rules to fit your losing campaign. He needs to call it quits but I hope he keeps working with the rest of the candidates because he’d be a good VP option.
