A wise legal move by Republicans, since every single one of them knew how incompetent Trump was. In one way or another, most of them are still conspiring with him.
I have to chuckle at the notion of cannabis being a performance enhancing drug.
Personally, I’d have a hard time getting up from the sofa, much less breaking records.

It’s not banned as performance enhancing. It never was. It’s banned because it’s viewed as a “substance of abuse”. You know, ‘that demon weed’.

The Speaker setting up the commission, and the committee chair, and the members announced so far, are elected public officials with easily found contact points for citizen communication such advocating for helpful ways or against troublesome ways of organizing the hearings. This isn’t the Benghazi commission; a well-written letter from one of us could count as much as a talking points memo from the Koch network.

My point is 5 minutes per questioner, with the witness permitted to blather his/her way through the 5 minutes. Yes, the next questioner (after the oppo party gets to soothe the witness for their own five minutes) can re-ask the question, but giving the witness a 5 minute filibuster is giving them an out, every time, and unless they’re idiots who haven’t gotten prior advice, they go in knowing they have that out.

I’m not entirely proud of making 110 on the World history final while tripping balls as a sophomore , as I knew the material, and cribbed bits of class material and plundered SiFi stories to write a pastiche about a world where the Magna Carta didn’t happen for 10 extra points…

… when they deliver self inflicted rounds they always seem to grab the nerve ammo.
The next strategic milestone could come when the Chair of the committee decides how and in what order the members get to ask questions of witnesses. In a ‘regular order’ committee, each side would alternate going back and forth (D to R) from most senior on down. If Ms Pelosi really wants to sow more division in McCarthy’s caucus she should leave that structure in place and let Ms Cheney handle all the Rs questions all by herself. This will give McCarthy and his rank and file a 12 month case of severe heartburn as they watch Ms Cheney get so much time on coast to coast camera as she asks questions and tears apart the modern Republican Party (the Party of Trump).
Such a move by Pelosi would probably protect Cheney’s seat but it would cause the other Republican back benchers to try to get their own share of air time and in the process go on a 12 month tear committing ever more unforced errors.

I had read enough about “set and setting” that I never tried anything like that.
I did, however, take the PSAT stoned and scored well enough to earn two National Merit Scholarships. Without cheating.
