Apropos of nothing, and before reading on, doesn’t it seem as if the right wing must always, ALWAYS have some “great enemy”? Once it was “the Soviet Union”, but that broke apart. Then it was “the Democrat Party”. They seem to have moved on from that, thank goodness, but “immigrants”? That’s even more un-American than hating Democrats.

Hating immigrants is hating themselves.

As George Lakoff has long argued, the framing is what usually wins the debate rather than argument.

What is true is that immigrants formed this country and are a critical source of its ongoing development. The oddball notion that this is an invasion either then or now is grossly misleading but let reactionary isolationists win that point and you open the door to oppression and reduced possibilities for all citizens.**

and Stephen Miller is a venomous, wet-eyed little crypto-fascist shit.

**structured roughly as Lakoff’s truth sandwich, the Miller part being mustard.

More like hating their parents. Which is not atypical of adolescents and younger. But many eventually grow out of it.

Yeppers. If one has British, Dutch, French, or Spanish ancestors that came here before the US was established then you might be able to dodge the immigrant label, because your ancestors were invaders.

The “invader” line has been in use for a while. Leaders in 1177 BC actively used the claim of “invader” as earthquakes, famine and other events had people on the move.

I can guarantee that if Trump tanks the global economy, there will be lots of “invaders”.

And we all know about the Trump’s families military history, which seems to be naught. But what about Vought and Miller’s families military history?

One branch of my family got to what became Virginia in the 1680’s. They had good relations with local indigenous folks.
The other branch of my family got to Southern Ohio in 1816 and they began the farm where I spent the greater part of my youth. So we’re still European immigrants from those early years.

I’ve mentioned this story before but my maternal grandfather’s family came as British citizens, and had members of the family serve during the Revolutionary War. Come to find out two centuries later my paternal grandfather had an ancestor that also fought in the Revolutionary War, but was a German Hessian. But he did serve, so there’s that.

Forget Pee Wee German. Russel Vought is the most dangerous member of this regime, if only because he’s the most effective.

Had a relative who served as a doctor in the Union Army at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia. As he stood in the door of his medical tent an errant cannon shot took the lower part of a leg off. He was sent home. He was the father of Kennesaw Mountain Landis who was a federal judge and was made 1st Comissioner of the MLB in 1919. He was my great-grandfather.

Please no photos of Stephen Miller in the morning; they get the day off to a terrible start. And please no photos of Stephen Miller in the evening; they keep you awake all night. And not photos of Stephen in the afternoon; they kill your appetite for dinner.

Palantir and Thiel’s other companies are well discussed on this site, as is Thiel’s bunker on South Island in New Zealand. If anything, he keeps winning more government contracts to establish his White Catholic Brave New World. If you are not familiar with the Techbro ideology, Thiel’s book Zero to One is a good start.
