All I’m suggesting is this: the messaging we’re doing isn’t working as well as it could. Maybe it is to some degree. But it’s the very definition of insanity to continue to do something that isn’t working and expect a different result. There are people out there who make their livelihoods out of messaging. If something isn’t working, try something else - don’t just keep doing the same thing that has apparently not worked as well.
Nailed it!
“The number of quotes misattributed to me is shameful. But still better than being accused of being a member of Congress.”
–Mark Twain
I remember ten years ago finding out that it was a hot new thing with the youngz to listen to what they called “vinyls.” I have the better part of a thousand myself, and I’m thinking of getting a quality turntable to digitize my faves. It’s a little crazy to pay Apple ten bucks for an album I already own.

This needs to be the lede: “Manchin’s word is no good.”
Let the Sinemanchin Troll scramble to refute that messaging and rebuild trust.
Messaging.
These two nincompoops have taken all the air out of the room most recently. Time to put the air back in the room and these two out of it.

If “progressives” are anyway involved in tanking this legislation they alone will be blamed for the tank.
Maybe so. But I’m not sure the media is the audience for that particular move.
That message is that progressives have earned a seat at the table and it’s about time they are not taken for granted

All I’m suggesting is this: the messaging we’re doing isn’t working as well as it could.
I question your conclusion that our situation was caused by poor messaging. We see we haven’t yet been able to achieve the desired goal of enacting Build Back Better. I see the problem as mostly being two renegade Democrats and a traitorous Republican Party. I’m not at all sure the messaging had anything to do with it.
I’m in a studio apartment so one amplifier and set of speakers and wired of course.
Everything from my vinyl is digitized at this point and the set-up I used to do so involved a Stanton turntable and an amp. Even though I don’t listen to the actual vinyl that much anymore I still tend to run the files from the computer through the same amp although I could use the bluetooth speaker I have.
Fuck this guy. Fuck him soooooo fucking hard. We’re going to end up getting nothing but minor Republican-lite policy in this and it will be a double victory for the GQP, having managed to completely squash Biden’s extremely popular agenda because we have trojan horse traitors in our party while they get to run around with their hair on fire about inflation and job killing tax increases anyway.
And after sitting and not taken for granted they tank the whole show. They get their “we showed you” and the rest of America gets squat and a GOP’er Congress in 2022.
Messaging should include the idea that this bill is incredibly popular in a country that is ridiculously divided. The Dems should acknowledge its popularity and maybe put pressure on the voters to call their respective congresscritters and emphasize that the voters actually want this.
I don’t know what level of communication is being put on the offices of Congress, but I’m also not seeing the ‘Call your Congressperson’ message getting out there. Both on infrastructure and debt ceiling. Hell, the phones would burn just with all the Federal employees that will be furloughed without pay until the shutdown is ended (and I know a few of them - they aren’t looking forward to this at all).
I still call my records records.
In my wildest dreams: Gabby.
(And I wouldn’t mind one bit about husband and wife senators.)
I’d like to see where, since about the time MoscowMitch declared that his sole goal was to make Obama a one-term President, that this elusive “messaging” has changed a single vote.
These are good questions I don’t have technical answers for but you might very well be correct. It’s certainly part of the assumptions I’m making in the background when calling what he’s going to allow in Reconciliation “Republican-lite”.
Manchin says “oh, I’ll let you increase taxes on corporations compared to the ridiculously low rate that the Trump Cuts set, but I won’t let you go all the way back…and we have to set that rate for X years.” Meanwhile, just doing nothing would watch them expire and get us back to an even better rate in less than X years. TROJAN. HORSE.
It probably hasn’t changed a vote, but it’s solidified a bloc of votes to the point where nothing gets between the vote and ‘no’.
I get that Dems are more diversified, big tent yadda yadda, but I can’t imagine the GQP having this kind of problem.

We can’t rely on details - the messaging has to be short and to the point. Yes, the dreaded sound bite. But the dreaded sound bite is all the average American can and will absorb anymore.
I would posit maybe no more than 1% of the population has read a nonfiction book cover to cover in the last year.
Yikes that is a long process…no quick way to copy those except to play them all, end to end, manually and be there to START recording and END recording. No good way to do batches. But hey, it will be the ultimate deep dive down memory lane!
I have never done that, I never had enough of an album collection…lots of cassette tapes and then CDs.
If you don’t mind some unsolicited advice (above) and a couple more points:
I haven’t done album recordings but I am kind of the family archivist and digitizer and whenever you try to make a digital copy of VHS and other analog sources (we have even used a Dig camera to capture 8mm and 16mm projection) it might not be as good as you might wish. Even the masters who make digital renditions of analog originals in The Studio lose some of the vinyl “charm” and if you spend a lot on the turntable and a ton of time for not-so-great results it might be better to go another route. My personal road to a full collection was pirating starting way back during Napster days and now other torrent sites. I did do a lot of ripping MP3s from my CD collection. $3.99 a month for a VPN, download Bit Torrent, search for albums on Pirate Bay and monitor your progress in between TPM posts.
Either my nephew has corrupted me or I have adopted the lingo of the youngsters so they’ll know what I’m talking about.
There are also those things known as LPs…
