The House is scheduled to vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill today amid protests from progressive Democrats who are furious over the de-coupling of the legislation from the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. The progressives have sworn to shoot down BIF if it gets put to a vote today without reconciliation–and it seems like that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
This isn’t new information. He’s said all this before. Saying you want to work on “taxes” is like saying you think we need to do something about “climate”. It is such a broad statement as to be meaningless. The time for generalities was four months ago - we need specifics.
Weeks ago at the very least. I really think he was trying to get the BIF bill passed first and our Progressive colleagues stopped that plan dead in its tracks.
I agree. At this point I think he will say whatever the thinks will get votes for his little pet project. Commitments and statements from him are largely worthless. We need something fairly ironclad given the shenanigans he’s pulled.
We took him at his word last time, and that’s what got us here.
“I want to do a tax overhaul. One thing you understand that all Democrats agreed on, there’s not a lot of things we all agree on, is that the 2017 tax cuts are unfair and weighted toward the high end. Let’s fix that. That’s the reconciliation,”
Translation: “I only negotiate and compromise with Republicans. When it comes to my own supposed party, I refuse to bend in any way whatsoever, there is no such thing as negotiation or compromise and only I am permitted to control the entire partys platform and agenda.”
In an as yet unexplained chain of events, a houseboat on the Potomac was sunk during joint naval exercises with the Australian Navy and the US Coast Guard.
Naw, 8217 is the code the cops use when they run into a crazy demented old homeless guy running around naked except for shit-stained underwear on his head.

Ok, Joe, I have no problem with that. What’re you proposing that will get 10 GQP’ers to come along for the ride?
I’m still waiting for his list of GQP’ers that he’s been teasing about for the last three months that will allow the bill to pass without undoing the filibuster. This guy is all hat and no cattle.
