The Crux Of Democrats’ Climate Plan Is Hovering Somewhere Between Life And Death

Like much of the reconciliation package, its chief climate provision has existed in a weird limbo for weeks.

Shame on those two. At this point they’re actually responsible for killing people.

Let’s not forget about the fifty GOP Senators who have no intention of voting for the reconciliation bill, period. They are willing to doom their own children and grandchildren to living in a world that will mostly be too hot for human habitation. They are traitors to the human race.

Fearless Leader Koch has ordered Boris Manchin and Natasha Sinema to join with the Republicans to kill both bills. Nothing will be passed,

Funny. Gina McCarthy said recently that her people were working very closely with Manchin’s staff on climate change and he was being highly cooperative. So this announcement if for what??? To have big Coal shower money on him?

and not to mention driving our last best chance for saving ourselves from catastrophic ecological disaster toward the cliff… if they can’t pull this together, manchin and sinema go down as some of history’s greatest villains.

Omfg. Don’t these people understand the goddamn existential threat at this point? Biden should call a joint session of Congress and read this article out loud. Of course, half wouldn’t even attend. They can buy their luxury bunkers but good luck with leaving them … ever.

Only if we can teach the surviving cockroaches to read history books.

Democrats are reportedly considering a suite of options to water down the policy and make it more Manchin-friendly: adjusting the definition of clean energy in the plan so that it could encompass coal and natural gas facilities equipped with carbon capture technology

Ah, I see. We’re back to solving the climate crisis with marketing. “Clean Coal” is back, folks!

This is how legislation gets made to game the system of regulation. Take note it was obvious this time.

At this point, Dems are going to have to play hardball with Manchin and Sinema and threaten to take away their Committee seats and access to donors. Also in Sinema’s case, threaten to support her primary challenger.

Sinema is living in an alternate dimension where selling out, not communicating your beliefs or positions, and doing everything but acting like a Senator is considered to be good politicking. She needs some sense slapped into her and realize that it’s not a bluff given her poll numbers are bad everywhere in Arizona so her idea of being a maverick is not working out.

And I know that there’s a high risk of Manchin losing in WV or both Manchin and Sinema flipping to the other side. But at this point, Biden’s entire agenda has been ground to a halt and that will continue if nothing changes and we’ll lose our small window of opportunity to get things done before the midterms.

Joe Manchin is much more interested in his own extensive investments in the coal industry than in working to protect the millions of lives that will be lost due to his negligence and that of many other.politicians in failing to deal productively with the threats posed by climate change.

Could probably start off with something about how Republicans hate migrants now, well they’re going to really be overwhelmed if they don’t get off their asses and do something.

Interestingly climate change has hit the southern red states pretty hard and that will likely continue, so in not too long the repubs in congress will be pressured to respond. The rest of the reconcil bill mostly affects those with less $$ and we know the repubs don’t give a shit about those people, not this year, not next year not ever.
