The California Democratic Primary Takes A Clearer Shape

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), a prominent, progressive member of Congress long assumed to be eyeing a Senate run, said on Sunday that he won’t mount a bid for retiring Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s seat and will instead endorse Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA).

Porter or Lee.

I like Schiff, but he brings nothing new to the Senate.

California is a place that can elect a lefty, let’s not waste the opportunity

I prefer Porter, but that may be because she’s received a lot more media attention than Lee.

Agree, I wrote in my preferred order.

Would love to see Porter and Warren working together

My choice is Adam Schiff.

Lotta good people in California to choose from for the Senate. But I live in AZ and can only watch from the sidelines.

Lee and Porter will split the Progressive vote, and Schiff will win. Practically speaking, Lee is 76 and Porter barely won her District. Looks like Schiff is the logical choice.

Lee and Porter would only split that vote in the primary. I expect Lee will trail and drop before then to ensure the Top two primary yields two Democrats

“Lee is 76”
Congress is an ALF (aged legislative facility).

I would be happy with any of the three, but am ready to see people younger than me fill important offices, so that rules out Lee. It is a tough choice between Porter & Schiff.

PS I think the close race for Porter in her district has more to do with the district than with her. I think she could win vs a Republican in CA…certainly against any of their usual candidates.

Porter, Schiff or Lee…I’ll be ecstatic with any one of them winning the seat. Make it so. And do it without fucking everything up, Dems.

Can we just grieve the loss of two excellent House members in peace?

She doesn’t really stand a chance in an actual race. She’s won her Oakland district by 80% or more since 1998.

Phuckin’ A. And he will win because he deserves to.

Schiff will win. Count on it.

Porter has virtually nothing in her resume that lays out her achievements and worst case scenario is her seat goes red again if she vacates it. Schiff on the other hand led the impeachment charge against trumpet and Kev punished him for it. Winning a senate seat would be like putting a thumb in Kev’s eye while saying neener neener.

Any of them would win the General against a republican.

Schiff will likely get more votes in the primary, especially if Porter and Lee are both still in (though I doubt that will be the case)

In an all Dem General, I think it could go either way.

I think it’s a shame that the one with less votes in November won’t be in the House either.

Curious, do you vote in CA?

I don’t. But I can have an opinion on the race and the resulting senate caucus balance.

In short, states in the Bluest of states (Northeast and the west coast) have a duty to elect the most progressive the electorate can support because for sure the reddest of states are electing their loudest and proudest RW adherents.

Do I think schiff would make a fine Senator? Of course…

Would I rather another Liz Warren type in the Senate, yes.

I like Schiff for CIA Director, or National Security Advisor. A nice FU to Kevin
