The California Democratic Primary Takes A Clearer Shape

Fat boy got alot more media attention than HRC and look how that turned out.

Not questioning anyone’s ability to comment, I was just curious.

I didn’t need an additional microsecond more media attention given to Fat Orange to know how despicable he is.

What I was trying to say (and apparently failed at) is that my preference for Katie Porter may be due to the fact that I know her positions and activities in the House much better than I know Rep Lee’s. That is down to the media attention Porter receives, and she has received a lot of it from the progressive media.

Looked at in another way, any one of the three CA Democrats is a more substantial and competent choice than over half of the house GOP representatives.

My personal choice would be for Schiff, with Porter serving another couple of terms in the House to broaden her resume before going on to something larger. At the end of the day, any one of them would be a good choice for the state.

Makes me glad I don’t live in Florida.

Some MSNBC hosts had Porter on to talk about her campaign but that was when she first announced. Those same hosts continue to have Schiff on. I don’t know where else to look currently to find an interview with Porter.

The House hasn’t (yet) had a hearing where Porter had an opportunity to ask plutocrats embarrassing questions with her white board. That’s how she generated a lot of her attention in the previous two Congresses.

I love and respect her but sadly Lee’s day has passed. We need Gen X and Gen Z to take over.

Porter & Schiff both great choices.

Typical, though, of my personal Rep to make the wrong call. I guess being campaign co-chair trumps all else. Sadly, I really don’t like Khanna, but don’t have a better alternative at the moment. Most of my progressive friends love him.

I’ll be voting in that primary and I haven’t made a choice yet. All three would make excellent Senators for different reasons. Each one of the would bring something to the job. And absolutely, we should not be fighting with each other over which one of three excellent people would be best.

Maybe House members are tired of having to run every two years with fundraising going on for at least 18 months. In the Senate you can do your job for a longer stretch of time without fundraising rearing its head.

There’s also going to be a heated race when Pelosi finally, actually leaves office. Lots of SF wannabes are gearing up for it right now.

CA voter here. I like all three, but I’ll most likely be voting for Adam Schiff. I thought his efforts & performance in the first impeachment were remarkable.

I don’t get anyone endorsing Barbara Lee. She will be 77 for the election and would be 83 at the end of her term, 21 years older than the first age to collect Social Security - almost as old as Feinstein is now.

That is reflective of Porter’s district, not the candiate. Porter’s district is D+3, Schiff’s D+23. But I’ll be happy with any of the three candidates winning.

That’s the best reason of all, he was passionate probably knowing the Senate wouldn’t do anything and he was right.

I expect this race to coalesce around just one real democratic candidate before anyone gives up their run for their existing seat.

Can’t run for both offices in the same primary, and I doubt anyone is going to drop out before then.

Barbara Lee will. Her current candidacy is showcasing herself for the caretaker appointment should Feinstein conclude her term early.

This discussion has been very helpful. I had not thought about the repercussions of losing the seats. Lee’s & Schiff’s are safe D, but as (I think it was) littlegirlblue said, Porter’s would be likely R.

also, I agree that Porter would be better with more mileage in the Congress to gain legislative achievements.

& I certainly like the idea of a poke-in-the-eye for Qevin.

Hopefully Jeffries or whoever is shepherding the ‘24 Senate races (Jamie Harrison?) or some other wise D strategist will have a talk with them.

It won’t even be close, that being said I will ENTHUSIASTICALLY endorse/proselytize/vote for
whomever comes out of the primary. The seat must remain Dem, we cannot afford 2016 style infighting for at least 5 more cycles.
