Thanks to the GOP Megabill, You’ll Pay Higher Utility Bills

This article is part of TPM Cafe, TPM’s home for opinion and news analysis. Natural gas price spikes, grid transmission bottlenecks, and a data center construction boom are already straining America’s power grid. The Republican Party just passed a budget bill that might break it.  Donald Trump and the GOP’s irrational energy agenda deliberately sidelines wind…

Here is proof that the ‘brilliant businessman’ is the dumbest fuck on seven continents. Renewable energy is the business opportunity of the century, and American business is going to miss the boat because of this shithead.

How long it will take the slowest among us to understand that the plan is to leave this country and its population a semi-functioning remnant, looted of its power and value, a former superpower that’s just a partially-populated apocalyptic playground for tech lords?

Is there any department in which they’re doing something other than hobble and destroy?

Hope is not a plan, but my hope is that the elimination of tax credits will only slightly slow down RE development. I’ve worked in energy efficiency for the last 40 years and include solar projects for our state-agency commercial-scale EE projects in the 50 to 500 kW range. This is all on the customer side of the meter stuff, not utility MW scale projects. Any direct-pay tax incentives available to our non-tax paying customers is a bonus but not a deciding factor.

Given the speed at which PV can be deployed, it will still be a key player in expanding capacity regardless of which side of the utility meter it is on. The bigger impediment will be tariffs as we ceded PV production capacity to China and South Korea in the last two decades . (Remember Solyndra during the Obama administration?)

And let’s not forget that the state with the most wind power is …(drum roll) … Texas.

As for fossil fuels, here in the west we’ve shut down and dismantled numerous coal plants which will never be replaced. Although I’d be in favor of building a new one next to Mar-a-Lago.

I thought I had reached maximum depression a few days ago when the bill passed, but of course I was wrong. Reading about what is in it every day is making it so much worse.

Get rooftop solar now before the tax benefits expire! We have a 12 kw system on our roof with a 10 kwh backup battery (we live in the SF Bay area) and we’re saving about $4,000 per year in utilities + gasoline (we drive an EV). It’s worth it on so many levels that it’s foolish not to have rooftop solar now.

If you own a home rooftop solar costs roughly the price of a new car and, unlike a car, it will continue to save you thousands of dollars each year for as long as you own that house.

Although their job is to hobble and destroy. And invade and occupy, if MacArthur Park was any indication.

Those who don’t know history may be doomed to repeat it, but apparently those who know history and want to repeat it have pretty fair odds, too.

250 years, and the United States has come full circle: once again ruled by a mad king, at the mercy of his crazy whims and neuroses … but without so much as a Parliament to mitigate the worst of it.

I notice Texas kept their mouth shut on this. They are the number one state for wind power production - more than the next three states combined. So much for drill, baby, drill. No one wants to do that because the market is so unstable.

Texas is #2 in solar energy production as well.
ETA: Awful lot of red states use wind power. 58% of Iowas energy generation is wind power.

Which US state generates the most wind power? There’s a clear winner

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a bombshell report issued Monday, the Department of Justice said it has identified a man in a decades-old photograph of Jeffrey Epstein as former President Joe Biden.

The emergence of the Epstein-Biden photo has compelled the DOJ to open “a thorough investigation” into the ties between the two men, a Justice spokesperson said.

At the White House, Donald J. Trump said that the Epstein photo proved “Joe Biden’s crimes are even worse than Hunter’s.”

Asked whether he was confident in the accuracy of the DOJ’s identification of Biden, Trump said, “Come on—Pam Bondi’s on the case.”
