Texas Guv Privately Admitted Reopening Economy Will Lead To More COVID Cases

You think he’ll take responsibility when the shit he admitted to hits the eventual fan? No, I don’t think so either.

Maybe all Republicans should get together behind a campaign slogan of; “Vote for us, we take no responsibility, so it’s all on you for voting for us”. What, too long?

I contemplated it, and I’m fully-serious that you are right.

Only half? Why only half? This is a literal shrug of the shoulders and a “nothing we can do about it, you’re on your own”.

You’re referring to that Acton thing?

I’m not sure what “globalist” had to do with it, either, but I guess there are several possible meanings (or insinuations).

This is again based on personal observation: He’s quite astute at assessing his political viability. I am pretty sure he has thought about a presidential run in 2024, but I would also bet he realizes the odds are pretty long. He may be angling for a cabinet position if Trump manages to get re-elected, possibly AG or State (he likes international junkets). If Trump loses, he may be angling for a cabinet slot if there is a GOP comeback in 2024. Most probably, he’s just keeping his options for advancement as wide open as possible.

Will his wheelchair roll over all the dead bodies of Texans he’s abandoning to the virus?

But BY GOD AND BY TRUMP these same Republicans will fight tooth and nail to take away health insurance from these people they are forcing to work to ‘start the economy’ that they are so much about.

A nationwide exercise in natural selection and “survival of the fittest.” The working class provides 150 million lab rats to be monitored by the 0.1% job creators who, by GOP doctrine, are acknowledged to be the fittest among us.

In large part, yes. But Abbott’s donor class are also itchin’ to kill a bunch of people by putting them back to work (or at least get them kicked off unemployment insurance), and their bidding is at least as important to him as fealty to Trump. Of course, they’re the same class of people who are pushing Trump to do this, so it’s kind of a feedback loop.

True, but I don’t see how 100,000 mostly elderly Texas corpses is a great electoral strategy for them. Naked incompetence is one of those things that pretty reliably moves voters to switch sides in material numbers.

He’s really good getting around in his wheelchair. I am certain he can maneuver around them.

The Jr Senator from Missouri, Josh Hawley has a bug up his ass with regards to China. He rails at China and the supply chain while he either doesn’t know, or refuses to admit that Republicans encouraged businesses to offshore their production of goods, all with offshoring their profits.

Because it’s an abstract idea. If you own a business, or you lost your job, the effects of a closure are as subtle as 14" Loge Cast Iron Frying Pan offside the head, meanwhile the concept of a life saved (even if it is a LOVED ONE) through Stay at Home Procedures is as noticeable as a grain of sand removed from a beach.

Tougher argument to make.

Another GWB. Just not ‘born on 3B’.
Abbott got an intentional BB-- stole 2B, and was awarded 3B. :baseball:

So in other words, we have now normalized needless deaths in the U.S. American people are supposed to be “warriors” against a virus for the almighty buck. Economy even more decimated by an entire political party who refuse to utter a peep against said needless deaths.

Have we reached bottom yet? What’s next?

This will be like a school shooting - at every local school - every single day for weeks. Local news headlines: over-run hospitals, over-run morgues, first responders dying. And their family members will be dying. And fear for their own lives will set in. Even THEY won’t be able to normalize that.

Your OneWordAnswer™: No.

November is still months away.

Ya got me stumped on this bit. They’ve exceeded my worst expectations of them, and those were pretty bad.

Maybe they’ll start executing people who test positive as an approach to literally killing off the virus?
