Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), who is currently chipping away at his stay-at-home order to reopen his state’s economy, privately told his state legislature and members of Congress during a phone call last Friday that doing so will cause further spread of COVID-19.

The Repubs are merely political cross dressers when they claim to be ‘pro-life.’

The media just needs to call out what they are doing, they are not trying to stop the virus, they are back to what they wanted to do from the start, keep the economy going and let 3 percent of people die.

Without widespread testing, this is just herd immunity by another name. Same as they’re doing in the UK.

Naw, they stopped their experiment early on once they saw the estimates. They’re in a much tougher lockdown than we are.

Your first mistake, Governor, is calling it the “aftermath.”
We’re still DEEP in the startofthemiddlemath.

His understanding of the situation is comprehensive, inasmuch as he has an expert panel of epidemiologists and others available from Texas’s truly great academic and medical communities. He’s certain that Texas has the very best plans, including adequate testing capability to track such increases when they occur and stop them. Right?

I knew Greg Abbott many years ago, when he held another statewide elected office. He is not a stupid man. He knows he’s going to get a ton of people killed. He just doesn’t give a shit about anything other than his own personal ambition.

Not at all – they’re completely consistent. They’re pro-life from the moment of conception until birth (sometimes forced-birth), and, after that, life’s on its own.

If this is a “war”, then why aren’t we sending the people who are aiding and abetting the enemy to Gitmo?

The Republican decision to reopen prematurely and sacrifice an unknown number of our society on the alter of our economy means we are no better than idol worshipers throwing virgins into a volcano to calm an eruption or Aztec priests cutting out the hearts out of prisoners to appease a feathered serpent during a drought.

And if what happened in the cult, stayed in the cult, I would be okay with that.

Christofascist cultist: Deaths for Jesus! So what if more people in my State drown in their own lung fluid! It’s what Jesus would do!
Or what that too much?
Fuck it, I’m feeling nasty today.

The governor told lawmakers that “the goal never has been to get transmission of COVID-19 down to zero” because “there will always be a level of transmission.”
What is the goal, then? Do tell. Texans will want to know whether their loved ones died because you sacrificed them on the ‘Texas: Open For Business’ altar.

He’s obviously pissed at the world over something. How did he end up in the wheelchair?

What they forgot was that, in times of crisis, people hoard what little cash they may have, so you can open all the things up, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to get anyone to come through the doors…

Well, we already know that minorities disproportionately have been infected and died, likely because of their high percentage position as essential workers, including nursing home and other health aides, delivery and warehouse workers, and others similarly not able to isolate, plus their often limited access to health care. So let’s just make it worse for them and throw more disposable people into the mix.
So what if it is in fact possible to diminish the spread on reopening by decreasing infections and testing. Who cares. Certainly not the Governor if the great state of Texas who wants to make sure money gets made and taxes get paid.
