Texas GOP Loses Convention Lawsuit

It is a reward for the Party faithful. In normal years (non-COVID) party workers are rewarded with tickets to these things. See old friends, network, talk politics, meet a few bigwigs. Some people love this stuff.

Apparently so! Certainly they will collect the campaign contributions up front (maybe even as an inclusion to their wills?), just in case of the untimely demise of any party members.

There seems to be a clear pattern where Republicans squeal for freedom and individual liberty, and never consider the common good.

And skip the sneeze guard. Government tyranny!

Mr. ESVA and are doing all stay-cations this year. Two trips to Canada and one trip to Sicily have been cancelled, and they’re not being replaced with visits to anywhere outside of our home county. This is the year to stay home. Who knows? I may do some much needed de-cluttering.

Who would have thought that just saying the clause used is “a magic spell”, wouldn’t be a good argument.

When did they mandate pants on the bus?

I am sorry to hear it. I was hoping that they would go ahead and hold the convention. Then the authorities in Houston could quarantine the entire bunch in the convention center for one month to be sure that those who survived could not infect any one outside of the party of crazy nuts.
At this rate there will not be enough Republican voters still standing to cast any ballots for the Orange Menace.

trump will just pocket the finder’s fees and trash-talk the builders. Isn’t that his MO?

I don’t see THAT in the Constitution.

It’s funny. Of all the things I’ve seen on the city bus, and I’ve seen plenty, I’ve never seen anyone try and get on without pants.

You need to get out more.

Especially after Tulsa Oklahoma is attributing their surge in cases to trump’s little rally - and the GOP convention would be a multi-day event.

I have to admit I’ve been wondering how many Republicans are quietly Lincoln Project Republicans and not members of trump’s faithful…

We tend to think of the GOP as a monolith - perhaps not so much this election cycle?

I would be willing to bet a whole nickel that the Texas GOP is secretly GLAD that they now have an excuse to avoid the convention (like a student with an excuse letter from a doctor).

Thank you.

The City of Chicago imposed a big-covid-state quarantine last week

They also vote on delegates to represent their state at the national conventions. There’s a lot of party business conducted at county, state, and national party conventions, but the main purpose of holding county and state conventions is to nominate delegates to represent your county/state at the next level nominating convention. Nominating the candidate is still the purpose of having conventions, although in this day and age, by the time the state convention rolls around, the identity of the nominee is usually a moot point.

Kinda’ clear.

Now I have to wonder why that vote was 7-1 against the GOP vs. a slamming 8-0. (And if I was that “one”, hopefully reflecting on not being qualified to be on that court.)
