NOTHING says “Party of Stupid” more than a party that wants to infect all their members during a pandemic that’s already killed more than 135,000 Americans.

I see this as another setback for Democrats.

When an evil enemy is trying to kill themselves, why should we try and stop them.

That is someone needs to convince me that letting the Texas GOP infect with a deadly virus 6,000+ of its most ardent supporters including its top leadership and elected officials is a bad thing.

Oh wait, that’s right, there are 7,000,000 people in the Houston area the GOP’s careless stupidity is also trying to put at risk.

Is the GOP the only party with enough courage and patriotism to sacrifice their old and frail for the good of the economy?

You get a sense of just how radicalized the Republican Party is when they lose 7-1 at the hands of their own chosen judges.

And I say chosen, even though judges are elected in Texas, because anyone with a “R” next to their name in statewide elections has generally won, though hopefully that’s changing.

Unwittingly, I say this is good news for Republicans. It’s just a hunch, but I’ll bet you $4.17 that many of the conferees will be glad to be alive six weeks from now.

No. They’re sacrificing our old and frail too. And our young and healthy as well. Who says they’re not equal opportunity? At least when it comes to dying for the economy.

The contract sounds pretty clear on the issue:

In a letter to the Texas GOP, Houston First Corp., the operator of the convention center, cited a clause in the contract that gave either side the right to cancel the agreement if an occurrence “is beyond the reasonable control of the party whose performance is affected,” which include “epidemics in the City of Houston” and emergency government declarations.

If the Texas GOP wanted to hold an in-person convention, they should have gotten their COVID-19 under control.

Just what we need: The Supreme Court of Texas joining all these other government agencies buying into the “conspiracy” of COVID. Poor Guv Abbott, getting it from all sides.

However, it is good news for John McCain…

They should hold it in Corpus Christi.

Trump will have to issue an Executive order overruling the Texas Supreme Court. Or maybe commute their decree. Or nuke them. Maybe some sanctions.

Of course not, only ordinary people get the privilege of dying for the economy… the rich and powerful will have to resign themselves into only watching from the solitude of their isolated and well disinfected mansions…

My Republican father-in-law hated it when I’d say to him that conservatives, “Will always cut their noses off to spite their faces”. Well…

With an emphasis on Corpus

Pretty on-brand for the GOP. Repeatedly trying and failing to force a private corporation to assist the sacrifice their own supporters.

Please, just let them hold their convention. Give them a financial break if they bring their entire, extended families. I think 24/7 buffets would do nicely as well.
