It truly is a cult or tribal thing. I work with lots of Republicans here in deep red semi-rural central Texas. It comes from their churches. They are told that Democrats are evil and don’t love Jesus enough. They vote the way they are told, they can’t think for themselves, otherwise they might be ostracisized!!! Worse - their kids might not get into Texas A&M, one of the centers of the cult.

Things on the kill list: POC, LGBTQIA+, personal rights, freedom and liberty (especially women’s), education, democracy.
However, gun ownership without limitation and gun violence should be just fine.
“The Texas Republican Party is raising record funds for election integrity,” a statement on the party’s website bragged. I think this more accurately should read: “The Texas Republican Party is raising record funds for the complete elimination of election integrity.”

Is this really surprising? The only plank on the 2020 National platform was to follow Trump’s lead and elect him and the candidates that supported him. There was nothing else. And as we saw, a weak platform won’t hold many of those fat assed fascist without collapsing.

Red staters don’t think it will ever happen to them – lose SS, VA benefits, foodstamps, Medicare, Medicaid and there’s enough needing them in those states. A reality check is overdue.

Pardon but Texas does not get to make that decision about who won the 2020 election. If they reject the election certification process as outlined in amendment 12, then they are rejecting the Constitution. And if they reject the Constitution the state ought to secede from the Union and go their own way as an independent Republic.
