This is a long-established tactic in Texas politics. The script was written months ago. Good on the Ds for exercising it.

The stunt would carry the risk of arrest under Texas law, as the state’s constitution requires a two-thirds quorum of legislators to be present.

Not clear on why they risk arrest.

I would be more than pleased to have the Texas Ds over for dinner, here in PA!

The legislature can call on the Texas Rangers to bring legislators back to Austin if they are in-state.

@tena already called dibs on that in New Mexico.

Imagine having to go on the lam to preserve voting rights.

It is unclear, however, whether or not there has to be formal extradition hearings if they are out of state. Without warrants, I’m wondering how a court would look at it.

Oh they’ll be just fine with some Philly Steak sandwiches & local beer.

Let @tena have West Texas and let @callmeeric in PA have East Texas.
She is mostly just interested in Beto anyway.

That sounds good too.

Here in texasistan it’s hard for us in Austin to even begin to explain the brazenness of this petty bullshit from the GQP.

How do you know who I’m mostly interested in? I would love to put the Texas Dems up here in Taos for the duration.
