Tapper Slams Trump For Spreading ‘Deranged’ Conspiracy Theories

I have a brother (true believer) and brother in law ( mindless Republican) who voted for Trump. Forgiveness and forgetfulness required, only because I love them.

Gotta pick your fights, agreed.

But don’t give in!

Yeah, apparently I disagree. I don’t think there was any definitional question here before Tapper said what he said today. This idea that CNN isn’t part of the MSM strikes me at least as quite novel and frankly so tendentious I can’t take it seriously. If it’s so painful to admit that some figure in the MSM said something that accurately describes the situation that you literally can’t do it on the same day it happened, just say so. And apparently 47 people found my point acceptable enough to hit the like button so apparently I’m possibly not quite the outlier you think.

The consequence is how it affects Tapper’s audience. The thug in the Whitehouse is unreachable. He lives in the small world of Self. Impeachment process will keep him busy. Those around him must contain him somehow. The circumstances around Epstein’s death don’t matter that much. That he is dead might spur more victims to come forward.

As with so much of the last week, this was one more step past what is almost a supposed norm. The man used someone by proxy to accuse a former president of potential murder. He used the position of his office to do so. Any sense of his humanity and intellect was obliterated. I think of that tweet as the last departure of anything he holds common with the rest of us. He is completely destitute in being given a benefit of the doubt. If we are so numb at this point to go meh, then we may deserve what we get for not getting the reality.

I wonder… did Epstein have a cell mate when this death went down? He apparently was off suicide watch so I have the feeling he wasn’t in solitary.

Et tu, E.? :grinning: You don’t remember Tapper doing some pretty good pushback now and again against the b.s. the Trumpistas tried to pitch him? You can’t just say this was pretty good today? I’m a little disappointed. Some of these other hard cases I didn’t have much hope for, but you’re a highly reasonable person. : (

Ah, but that isn’t what you said in the post that I commented on. I would agree that they are part of the MSM, but only a rather small part. As long as they agree with the rest of their kindred, they represent part of a large block. If they differ from that block, their meager stature becomes paramount.

Even the Mooch has finally had it.

Fine. I did originally speak to this more dismissive attitude, not a straight denial, and you didn’t define them out of it but the other poster was moving in that direction. Let’s just say that IMHO before today pretty much everyone would have agreed that CNN is emblematic of, is the epitome of the MSM in all their perfidious infamy. I have literally never heard, or certainly do not remember hearing, the idea that they were only a small part of the MSM before this day dawned. I WONDER WHY. And I don’t see much overlap or movement toward consensus here so I’m going to suggest we let it go.

And that’s why Trump mean-tweeted about him yesterday

Well it did not work on me. Tucson is holding an election for Mayor soon and the primary is under way. It’s by mail in paper ballot. I sent mine 3 days ago. For me voting is right up there with breathing in importance.

We obviously travel in different circles, since I hear (and read) it frequently. Cable news in general is only a small part of the MSM, and CNN a smaller part of that.

Fair enough, but note that I did back up my position with some actual numbers.

I will hope that the CNN comments foretell a broader movement, even if I don’t actually expect it.

My understanding is he was supposed to have one but didn’t.

If you see the legacy broadcast nets as more mainstream both in size and tradition, that’s a plausible argument. My complaint is that it seems a little ungenerous to me to be talking about that today, for reasons already stated. We just disagree. It’s no big deal if two people on the intertubes disagree. :slightly_smiling_face:

Oligarchs have utterly dropped the façade and shown us exercises in naked, raw power-grabs in every other arena, and yet we’ll still pretend they can’t very simply reach into this one?

No. We’ve had our dust-ups, even before TrumpTime. They know me and what I believe and vice versa…we respect the relationships, but clearly not each others’ politics. Well, they agree, I don’t.

OT but the motherfucker is preparing an executive order that would have the FCC and FTC police this bullshit about censorship of conservatives online. State-controlled media, folks.

Maybe tomorrow.

My suspicion is that disagreement is what really powers the Internet. If everyone on it agreed on something, all at the same time, it would cease to exist. (I think it is safe to suggest that such an proposition won’t be tested.)

Then it is hard for me to see how Bill or Hillary coulda got into his cell thru the plumbing or between the bars (do modern jails have iron/steel bar doors anymore) of his cell door to commit what trump seems to think they did.
To my knowledge trump is the only occupant of the Oval Office who traffics in and believes in conspiracy theories. He rejects evidence based science out of hand and prefers to baselessly accuse China of an epic hoax on climate change.
Trump is the only high level campaigner who would pose for a photo giving the ol thumbs up and wide grin of “happy days are here again” while Melania holds a newly orphaned baby with injuries if his own. To me it is not just epic unfeeling stupidity, it is also obscene.
