The judge and federal prosecutors in the criminal case against Freddie Klein, who has been charged after allegedly participating in the violent Capitol insurrection on January 6 while he was still working at the State Department as a Trump political appointee, slammed him for abandoning his duty to serve the country.
“Despite the trust the country and government placed in Klein’s character, stability, trustworthiness, reliability, discretion, honesty, judgment, and unquestionable loyalty to the United States, Klein’s behavior revealed that his true allegiance lies elsewhere,” they continued. “Rather, Klein’s actions established that his own personal beliefs override the rule of law and that he will use violence in an attempt to halt the legitimate functions of the United States government with which he disagrees.”
Oooo, sounds like the prosecution team stopped off at Ace Hardware on their way to court, to pick up a big bag of framing nails, suitable for nailing someone to the wall.
I really don’t get what the end game was supposed to be in this insurrection and doubt that any of the indictees do either; although, I suppose someone amongst the conspirators knows.
I can only imagine it was some version of the November Revolution, with Congress coerced into bending to the reactionaries’ will. I guess it didn’t work out that way.
As it is, there’s gonna be a Hell of a price to pay for an afternoon of exorcising their ill will on the Congressional and Metropolitan Police and briefly delaying rthe certification of the election’s winner.
I have read multiple stories about this guy, and I always wonder whether he reported to work that day and was on the clock, or whether he took the day off–and just what his reason was, if he called in sick, took a personal day? I know, details. Still, an inquiring mind wants to know.
We do know a lot of what they believe is Russian disinfo. If some of these nuts can be directly linked to Russia, THAT could bring very realistic treason charges. Roger Stone comes to mind. The indictment of the Russians a few years back mentioned that Americans were involved, but were not indicted since it was possible they were “unwitting participants”, or “assets” (useful idiots) of Russia. A little more evidence can be brought to light since now Trumper’s can’t lie knowing they will get pardons. That option is definitely off the table. And what could break that investigation open is if the Manhattan DA brings up some Trump-Russia leverage that is evident in tax returns.
He’s a Drumpfist – it’s a good bet he was on the clock for trying to overthrow the government he purportedly worked for. His primary loyalty was to Donnie, after all.
Judges are beginning to realize the people in Trump’s orbit have no loyalty to America, the Constitution, or the rule of law. Trump asked people to show up on 1/6, they showed up. He demanded they be “strong”, i.e.violent, and they were violent.
Their allegiance is solely to Trump, and I believe the strategy was to kidnap or kill the VP and members of Congress to prevent certification of the vote, then for Trump to use emergency powers in service of a national tragedy.
OT, but your comment reminded me of the days when the Cubs would play Friday home games at 3.15pm. The TV broadcast crew [Harry Carey and Steve Stone] did a TV ad promoting those games encouraging fans to fake illness and come out to Wrigley Field. “Wow, you don’t look so good!”
