Trump told the rally crowd, in so many words with his usual indirect Mafia speak, that because Pence was involved in certifying the election, he could just ignore Congress and call the election for Trump.
In Trump-speak, “I hope he does the right thing” in reference to Pence translated to “You’d better make him do the right thing” as far as the rally crowd was concerned. That’s why they had the gallows set up and were yelling “Hang Mike Pence!.” It’s why Buffalo Shaman Guy wrote the warning note for Pence and left it on the podium.
I get you.
It is just them completing their journey to pure terrorism. Anything they don’t agree with is now met with threats to maim and kill. Whether it is their own RW elected official, or the Secretary of State or local election board. They have threatened it so often that at some point they have to DO SOMETHING otherwise they look like complete wussies who never take any of the action that they themselves propose.
I have seen it said on this forum, that once a party/group has decided and approved violence as a tactic…it won’t end. My add-on theory is once they have decided…it becomes their only response. They have double-downed themselves into such a place that anything less threatens their virility or
existence. (because there are plenty of women involved…it isn’t all testosterone)
We might think they are such idiots and have humiliated themselves so thoroughly, and behaved so cowardly, that they would slink off in shame and never really achieve their own rhetoric…but they do have a limit. There is only so much bluster and tough talk you can sling, at some point you have to DO SOMETHING or you will lose face completely with your following.
Fine let him Do Something and get his ass arrested too.
The FBI and the judges involved so far have not been amused in the slightest by these people.
Yet another member of Traitors For Trump. Throw the book at him.
Yep! My point is everything looks like a nail when you are a hammer.
These folks have been losing on logic, on science, on argument, on everything and now all they have left is violence. They aren’t looking to make political moves, even their elected politicians. It is violence for everything, violence for everyone.
If you have white privilege, if you’re angry, if you feed off resentment and grievance, if your candidate lost an election, the “end game” is to show that anger for all to see (hence the selfies, the jerks). These are not deep thinkers. Their lord and master asked them to DC to do something and they did.
LOCK THEM ALL UP.
And should we be surprised that a Don the Con appointee was part of the insurrection? I don’t think so.
I have white privilege, but I’m sorta laid back about it. How the hell can you be angry about being privileged? Sure, I feel a bit of guilt, but at least I don’t fret about faulty taillights.
A lot of this will stop when a large number of insurrectionists are in jail.
I’m surprised there weren’t more. In fact, there most likely were more administration members there, but we’ll never know since they were allowed to leave the grounds with no consequences on the day of.
I agree with you - that is their viewpoint for sure. It’s absurd - they want some kind of rebellion and then what?
The Founders understood what they were doing when they rebelled - forming a new country. They already had done it all short of putting a separate government together. These people have done squat but bitch. What would they do if they caught the car?
I won’t be surprised if there are more, but I don’t expect a whole lot of them were directly involved in the physical violation of Congress.
THAT is a terrific name for them. Very catchy and kind of says it all…
Nicley done! You should trademark that!
They’re angry because they feel their privilege is being taken away…
BAZINGA!
Or because they don’t feel privileged in any particular way. They’re not the Ivy league rich white folks, they’ve worked their way the whole way through. And then they’re being told by all the “woke” people that they do indeed have a privilege card and they’re so much better off than other underprivileged folks, and they really don’t feel that as they look around their run-down trailer park in rural WV.
Yeah that doesn’t work for: people who were in the administration; the lawyers, realtors, CEOs and CFOs who were part of the insurrection.
That’s a charming story to add to the endearing lore of old, neighborhood ballparks.
My first MLB game was at Connie Mack Stadium, watching Pete Rose during his rookie season…
Throw certain people out of it.
