Sure Looks Like Sacha Baron Cohen Got A Right-Wing Rally To Do A Racist Sing-Along | Talking Points Memo

okay… Cohen manages to sing all sorts of highly offensive things fro eight and a half minutes, with no evidence that anyone in the crowd objected. Then, at some point, he apparently says something about jews (not part of the 8:24 clip – and its only at that point that a guy with a megaphone and wearing an Israeli flag as a cape, starts to object…

in other words, the organizers of the rally are lying about the reaction of the crowd…

Stupid people don’t like it when they are caught in their own stupidity doing stupid things and proving their own stupidity! Stupid!! Wait, did I say stupid? Yes, I meant to!!

Organizers of “March For Our Rights 3.0” — which was meant to be a rally for gun rights and other right-wing causes — say they broke through the security team surrounding the stage and chased the singer off. He was whisked away in an ambulance, they said.

I’m dyin’ here.

Sacha Baron Cohen or not, this is just plain hilarious.

R-i-i-i-ght …

You call yourselves pro-Trump - i.e., pro-racist jackass who shouts “Kung flu” to applause at his own racist right-wing political propaganda rallies - and you’re surprised when the Trump supportters you invite to your own right-wing political propaganda rally chant the same things?

That’s pure irony and high comedy at its finest.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

And just to add this note: I’m glad I belong to the Democratic Party where most of us can act like what we really are without shaming and embarrassing ourselves.

So—yeah. I can understand feeling ambivalent about the prank, the message, and any potential blowback, but the fact that he worked an MBS reference in there? You have to admit that was inspired.

Don’t forget that we brought some good or less-good Nazis to the US because we needed them here.

… “It’s sad, it’s unfortunate that some people chanted back,” another organizer, Matt Marshall, told NPR.

Nope. What’s sad is you fools think these things.

Sure. But we didn’t incorporate their ideology.

We talked to them about how frustrating it was to be labeled racist, and they agreed with us. Like, we really let the guard down and trusted them.

They are labeled racist because racism is inseparable from the militia movement, like literally the reason for the entire movement was neo-nazis in the 80s. They where anti-gubment, because the federal government treated non-white people the same as white people. You don’t get to cry about being labeled racist when the number one book among your members is the Turner Diaries.

If by that you mean we weren’t “appeasing” them, I agree, of course.

Its a good thing the Bob Roberts producers and Tim Robbins kept the rights to the right wing folk ditties in the film.

A little slow on the uptake too.

I assume by we, you mean Democrats, because Republicans obviously did.

Oh sure, no approach is 100%, and even a combination of the best known approaches will never even begin to come close to it. But every win matters, however small. It’s like votes. In fact, in this case, it could well be votes, either for Biden or Dems or not for Trump or Repubs. It’s a game of inches that add up to miles. And if you want more platitudes and truisms, try fortune cookies.

The best part is that Cohen went back after in a different ‘disguise’ and hung out recoding the interviews of the organizers complaining about what happened.

I thought that was basically what I was saying. So I agree.

It’s the only way to have a decent society.

Well …

Eventually, some in the crowd began to object to the performance. A man with a megaphone began yelling about his grandfather, who he said was a Holocaust survivor. “We’ve got antifa here,” the singer said of the people protesting his show.

At first I wondered if the singer’s reference to antifa confused the grandson of the Holocaust survivor … but then I understood that the young man’s chanting “USA, USA” had resolved the matter satisfactorily.

So why would a group of Republicans sing along with a racist song?

Because it is their nature.
