I am not one to normally pray, nor am I religious at all, but all I can think is God give Ketanji Brown Jackson the strength to continue to show up to work each day and carry on the good fight in the face of her smug Republican colleagues who clearly hate her and those who share her skin color. I can’t even imagine what it is like to have to endure those people day after day.

So Alito wants to go back to a “Whiter and Brighter America”, eh? Y’know, like we had in the early 20th century when an Alabama appeals court held that a Black man and Sicilian woman had not violated anti-miscegenation laws because there was no proof that the woman was white.

The Supreme Court’s decisions implicitly pose the question, Why vote Democrat? After all the marching feet and blood that went into getting to the Civil Rights Act, if it’s just going to be reversed sooner or later – reversal has been in the works for decades by the traditional forces of capital – there’s nothing left to do for those wanting a better world but cynicism or a turn towards revolution. Delusion is not a very good political strategy.

Trump’s presser yesterday after he had spent an hour-and-a-half on the horn with Vladimir Vladimirovich was completely bonkers. Ukraine hasn’t been defeated, it doesn’t have a large navy to sink and it gave up its nukes in 1994. His confused, demented mind is swirling with war misnomers and fantasies.

Alito, like Scalia and DeSantis are the worst types of Italian Americans. Ignorant and or just plain forgetful about their heritage and history when their forbearers immigrated here in the late 1800’s. A Mario Cuomo or Peter Rodino were quite cognizant about their history and it reflected their politics.

Do people on this board realize that despite Trump and a toxic Republican Party the Democratic party is underwater.by between 16 and 30 percent. Why doesn’t anybody wonder why? Does telling yourself all white Americans are racists make you feel superior as we lose state after state. That approach is not a really good look for a national party.
We need more Democrats. Integration has been won. We don’t need to let the Republicans turn it into just another culture war.
Democrats need to start messaging on important issues popular with people outside the Epstein class. Things like uniformly better schools, healthcare for all, child care for young people and . better infrastructure.
Democrats need to recognize that the AI being pushed by the Epstein class will result in massive unemployment. The Democratic party needs to think about its response to ChatGPT not some already marginalized racist.

Racism has always been about making inequality the law of the country, emboldening, embedding and rationalizing the idea that certain people are better than others.
And that is all about reinforcing the corrupt ideals of authoritarianism and an exclusive monied society. The whiteness is just a white washing of this corruption.

It’s not just Alito. CJ Roberts’ life project has been to reverse the VRA and disenfranchise as many POC as possible - starting with his clerkship with Rehnquist, then working in Reagan’s DOJ, participating in the Brooks Brother’s riot, and then to the court system. It might be that shitting on POC is even more important to him than upholding the wealth, power, and perquisites of the rich and corporations, although it would be a close call.
