Supreme Court Enter New Era As It Hears Key Cases Over The Phone | Talking Points Memo

WASHINGTON (AP) — The coronavirus pandemic is forcing big changes at the tradition-bound Supreme Court.

All while enforcing voting in person in blue States. The hypocrisy astounds and it should make everyone re-think how it is that the 1% can be remote, when the 99% cannot.

Double standard.

80, 5-4 decisions supporting GOP donors! They were already phoning it in and have been phoning it in for years.

"DRESS CODE: ROBES OPTIONAL

Before taking the bench, the justices gather just behind the courtroom to put on their black robes and shake hands, another tradition upended by the virus outbreak. But with no one to see them, they could just as easily wear their bathrobes."

I’m fully expecting Justice Thomas to “forget” to wear pants.

Audio of the arguments will be broadcast live by the news media,

Trump’s real time twitter feed will be epic when the Court hears the case to hide his tax returns.

In WI, the SCOTU ruled that voters had to physically go to the polls to vote in April during the pandemic rather than allowing extended time to vote by mail. Now, the SCOTU hears cases over the phone?? The hypocrisy is stunning!

One justice you probably won’t hear much from is Clarence Thomas, the longest-serving member of the court. He almost never asks questions, and he’s said he thinks his colleagues interrupt the lawyers before them too much.

If Thomas fails to call in, will anyone notice?

Wants the average joe/jane to work in infested meat plants ,but they can’t show up to work in sanitized chambers.

And Clarence Thomas wife she’s still running lose.no telling how far this project has gone since last June.

““Our house is on fire and we are stomping ants in the driveway. We’re not really focused on the arsonists who are right around us,” Ginni Thomas said.”

You know there’s going to be a lag in original TV productions, so when the Trump financial documents case comes up they really should consider some sort of Zoom meeting. And have a camera focused on Trump while case proceeds. A split screen would add a nice touch don’t you think?

Darn, she’s talking about herself, isn’t she?

We know Trump will only listen to Fox rather than CNN or other fake news broadcasts so a split screen would also give us the chance to compare his comments to what is actually being argued in the Court. Added bonus: we wouldn’t have to do a @sniffit and venture into the Fox hole.

Yup. I’ve been asking for years why they even bother holding hearings, when we all know exactly what the outcome is going to be.

For CSPAN, mytelecom provider’s guide lists the cases that will be heard and when. I don’t see trump’s tax returns scheduled for this week, and next’s week’s cases aren’t showing yet. But some interesting ones for sure. Birth control coverage mandate, for instance…

That will change if Trump gets another appointment.

Because sometimes they want to punt the decision until after it becomes moot, like to, say, the second week of November, to pull a date out of thin air. Holding hearings grants the fig-leaf of process and adds months of delay.

" One such project is titled “Protect Our Heroes,” led by conservative and provocateur James O’Keefe."

Well, that just implies integrity right there. This puts O’keefe in one degree of separation from a Supreme Court Justice. Or is it two degrees? Not sure how that works. One way or another, he will likely come up in dinner table conversation.

“Fake Justices!”

The persistence of faulty memory.

Perhaps next time they’ll come up with a false accusation centered around a venue where Joe was actually there.

Also, memory is not a dvd recording and human witnesses are notoriously unreliable and subject to social facilitation.

Fake Records. Problem solved.
