Supreme Court Enter New Era As It Hears Key Cases Over The Phone | Talking Points Memo

I have no problem at all with the SC justices working from home, there is no way we should risk RBG or Breyer’s lives while Trump is still in office and McConnell oversees their replacements.

At least Prezenik apologized. But the damage was done. Bernie supporters started running with it and noised it abroad.

Six witnesses came forward to bolster Murry’s false accusation. Six! Expect more of this sort of thing between now and the election.

Cuts both ways, of course.

Anyhow, does Dave Weigel link to the (version of the) accusation that places the alleged act at an impossible venue?

No. But I checked. Last night, there was a sequence of about half a dozen tweets or more beginning with the original “scoop” tweet and Prezenik appears to have deleted them.

Thanks.

So now there’s no way to document the notion that an accusation was made that included an impossible venue?

As someone has said – with these people, it’s always projection or confession.

Everyone who ever tried a case knows these things.

Eye witnesses are terribly unreliable.

I appealed a theft case once with an African American defendant and an Hispanic eye witness. The Hispanic witness didn’t speak any English so there was an interpreter. The witness made a statement on the stand that the translator didn’t want to translate but had to. The witness had said: “I don’t know, they all look alike to me.” Defendant was still convicted - it was Dallas County; they usually are.

Screen shot of initial tweet. Best I can do.

Biden was not there. He had some minor (sinuses?) surgery earlier in the week and couldn’t attend. Confirmed by several independent sources and records.

Thanks!

I see that the accuser here is not Ms. Reade but a new one who was only fourteen at the time of the alleged incident.

And who (to the extent that you know) is the tweeter, Ms. Pezenik?

I know she works for ABC, so the assertion made by some geniuses that all this is coming from Scary Sanders People seems … as sloppy as usual, unless Ms. Pezenik has said who her sources were.

This I don’t doubt – and it’s why Ms. Pezenik apologized and deleted the tweet(s).

That’s all I know is that she’s an ABC reporter. Her source was Christine O’Donnell - yes “Not a Witch” - speaking for her niece, Eva Murry. Pezenik then contacted Murry. Now, O’Donnell is saying that maybe it was a different year.

Strike two.

Is she going to swing again?

Thanks. Now I can’t wait to hear how Christine O’Donnell and her niece are Scary Sanders People – although, for all I know, they may well be!

More seriously: If the niece was fourteen a decade ago, she’s an adult now. Is she speaking for herself at all in this … affair? If you know, you might spare me the effort of doing my own research!

I hate to say it, but if it gets pushed back to 2004 or before, her niece would not likely have had any breasts to lasciviously comment about. It’s also been brought up that O’Donnell was running against Biden for the Senate in 2008 and the accusation never came up, then, nor during the 8 years Biden was VP.

@cervantes Some of the Bernie people seized on the story, as you can imagine, but they were not the source. I’m confused as to who is speaking for whom with respect to Ms. Murry and her Aunt. It’s purely my impression, you may come to a different conclusion, that it was O’Donnell that coordinated this story or whatever it was.

I understand why you hate to say it but of course that’s true.

Too bad they trusted ABC News.

They probably did know better, too, but perhaps the new accusation was just too tempting.

If they saw the accusation and latched on to it, before or after the nomination was decided, then I’d expect some sort of apology, even one that merely piggy-backed on Pezenik’s.

Well, you’ve piqued my interest. I’ll take a look.

Meanwhile, I just hope the two of them are going to stop making accusations that could never be true!

Yeah. I don’t know a thing about Ms. Murry. But Christine O’Donnell is … well … she’s not a witch. And now, I need lunch.

Buon Appetito.

Oh. BTW. Christine O’Donnell once accused Biden of tapping her phone.

But of course she did. SMDH

Yes, her “tapping” theory emerged before Obama had selected a running-mate. Biden was campaigning only for his Senate seat at the time.

On the other hand, if I absolutely had to have someone make strange accusations about me, I might even nominate Christine O’Donnell to do it.
