Supreme Court Abets Trump’s Defiance of Court Orders

defiance of future district court orders

The function and purpose of the Court is to act as cronies for whatever any President wants to do.

Future candidates – Republican and Democrat – will need to affirm their willingness, in fact, their eagerness, to defy the Court if elected.

  • Barack Obama (on TV): [on TV delivering his election victory speech] … to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth that out of many, we are one.
  • Driver: You hear that line? Line’s for you.
  • Jackie Cogan: Don’t make me laugh. We’re one people. It’s a myth created by Thomas Jefferson.
  • Driver: Oh, now you’re gonna have a go at Jefferson, huh?
  • Jackie Cogan: My friend, Jefferson’s an American saint because he wrote the words, “All men are created equal.” Words he clearly didn’t believe, since he allowed his own children to live in slavery. He was a rich wine snob who was sick of paying taxes to the Brits. So yeah, he wrote some lovely words and aroused the rabble, and they went out and died for those words, while he sat back and drank his wine and fucked his slave girl. This guy wants to tell me we’re living in a community. Don’t make me laugh. I’m living in America, and in America, you’re on your own. America’s not a country. It’s just a business. Now fucking pay me.

Three branches of government…
(hand over mouth while snickering)

Naw, we have one dominant branch. What’s left are nad lickers only
Spineless congress
SCOTUS killed due process yesterday. Now ICE thugs can snatch anyone, citizen or not, and throw them out of the country on a whim. That includes you… or me.

Oh really? From whom? More importantly, why would that matter?

I know your point is snark (so is mine), but I am not trying to be the nihilist. In developing totalitarian states, even public declarations from political actors matter.

Congress sets no boundaries and SCOTUS clearly keeps resetting the boundaries for this administration. If boundaries are set far enough then they have no meaning from a practical perspective. Or, any meaning comes so late that it matters not at all. Republicans have perfected the art of delaying justice to deny justice.

The Trump administration has received this point clearly, and correctly think “boundaries” have no meaning.

that was so incongruous that it took my breath away. Even the “we love you god” bit. His mental processes are clearly in serious decline. He may have long covid on top of not having much mental ability in the first place.

MM: “ Media critic Mark Jacob offers eight suggestions for the media to avoid turning war with Iran into the sort of entertainment loop Trump craves.”

I appreciate this guy’s suggestions, but it doesn’t matter. Apparently, Dear Leader was driven to me-too Israel’s bombing by Fox News’ rah-rah coverage.

Anybody else is Fake News unless on board. Forget about the tail wagging the dog; this is the fleas moving the tail to goose the dog.

And how would this be different from every other enterprise that Donnie has ever been involved in?

“At just 19 years old, Barron Trump is raking in an impressive sum of cash.”

And will never in his life know a moment of anonymity. Me? I can visit any of the world’s major cities, ride public transport, lay on the beach, eat in the best restaurants, and have honest conversations with total strangers. All by myself, or with friends, no security detail lurking about. I think I have the better deal.

In a word: no.

In some more words: Fuck no. It is an outrage, and I am outraged. Ceding this ground (“oh well, Trump is all powerful, time to give up and stop talking about it and just accept it”) is such low energy weak-ass do-nothing-ism, it makes me want to [redacted]. And it reeks of the privilege of someone who is not personally affected by this. At least not the way migrants, trans, etc are.

The SCOTUS ignoring the constitution to cede dictatorial powers to the President is an absolute outrage and that needs to be screamed from every rooftop.

Me too. No matter what their level of education, there are just some people whose personality types dictate they favor strongman rule over democracy. They just feel it’s “right” to have a leader tell them what to do. So their tendency in executing their jobs - whether in business or law or politics - is to use their power to effect what their personality type demands. Once they had lifetime appointments, they could brush off any concerns about ethics or even existing law and just do what their hearts tell them.

I’m sure the bribes helped seal the deal.

This is beautiful. Truth is like that.

Just like the Pakistani-India cease fire. Pakistan claims he brokered it and nominated him for the NPP. India says “Pakistan came to us requesting a cease fire. We agreed. I have not spoken to Trump and he had nothing to do with this.” He’s been claiming for months to have spoken to Modi and every time, Modi says “nope”.

I am a bit surprised that Donnie has the gall…or is it just more of his cluelessness…to show his face in The Hague. Does he even know the relevance of the Hague to his criminality that have brought other criminals there to those courts?
