Supreme Court Abets Trump’s Defiance of Court Orders

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. As Josh Kovensky reported yesterday, the Supreme Court’s order pausing a preliminary injunction against Trump’s policy of third-country removals without due process will undoubtedly fire up his brutal deportation machine, and embolden administration officials to…

It’s really tiresome reading accounts of daily affairs, wherein Trump’s failure to obey courts or follow the law are “shocking”, “maddening” or any other adjective of that ilk. JUST when will the media, and the populace in general, finally realize Trump is not subject to U.S. laws? WTF is shocking about him flouting court rulings? Sheesh, enough already. People really need to understand, we have 3-1/2 years left of this.

DONALD TRUMP IS ABOVE THE LAW, GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS, AND QUIT REPORTING ON IT AS IF IT’S SOME SORT OF OUTRAGE. IT IS WHAT IT IS. GET USED TO IT.

What is this optimism about 3 1/2 years? It’s pretty clear this chaos is meant to be permanent, whether it’s in the hands of the current occupant or the heir to his throne, whoever that may be.

It might not be wise to get too used to projects doomed to end in catastrophe. Where’s the adult supervision? John Roberts is an adult, and a federal employee who’s paid to supervise the lower courts to make sure they uphold the constitution. Facilitating and enabling executive malfeasance is not in the job description.

Don’t worry, when a Democrat is elected President, everything the Supreme Court is doing now will be reversed.

When the so called Family Research Council folks had their “day of fasting and prayer for life” did they include the efficacy of vaccines which have saved hundreds of millions of lives in their prayers? Or did they curse out Dr. Fauchi and Dr. Salk under their breath.

Pretty much exactly how I was feeling. I still don’t understand the Supreme Court action yesterday. Has anyone from the court released anything that explains the reasoning behind seemingly reversing their decision about habeus corpus just a few weeks ago? I guess we are just at the “because we said so” part of the decline. Too much energy required to actually justify these terrible decisions - easier just to issue edicts and hide in their comfy lives.

There is some amusement in watching Trump pretend he is leading the parade on the Israel-Iran war only to keep turning around and realizing they are headed in a different direction, then running to get in front again only to have the same thing repeated. He is beclowning himself and us at the same time he is allowing the Millers, Homans and Noems of this world continue to do some of the most inhumane and cruel things this country has been associated with since the end of Jim Crow.

It is a horrendous waking nightmare.

I suppose we’re lucky that Kash Patel and Dan Bongino are either: 1) so busy with extracurriculars they don’t have time to turn the FBI into a paramilitary goon squad, or 2) stymied by an agency using its own procedures to slow their “fascist kink” agenda.

Imagine Enrique Tarrio in charge of your local FBI office!

More like DOJ sides with Catholic priests who cover up and fail to report abuse cases.
