Stewart Rhodes Faces Sentencing for Sedition – TPM – Talking Points Memo

OT (and after almost 500, why not?)

On making Russia pay:

Surely $300bn is only a fraction of what the Russian bastards need to pay.

I suspect that “stripper” is traditional, if you can get one.

I wish this were true, but it presumes that they are limited to replaying the same script. The Bundys have not waited for such formal processes to occur.

All I know is that the dad in Father Knows Best had a gray flannel suit job and Jane Wyman stayed home and cooked the roast, and as far as I know, that is what the Republican party wants for the future.

We have to wear suits? Even at home? And it will be awkward if we are all married to Jane Wyman, especially since she is dead.

And the only reason she was at home, is that the munitions plant she worked in during WWII laid her off as soon as Robert Young came home from overseas to take back the job.

Saw that. I checked all the Supremes. Sotomayor is Yale, Barrett is Notre Dame and Kagan and Jackson are both Harvard. Addition: Given the composition of the SCOTUS, you’d think there weren’t any quality law schools outside of the Ivy League. We need some geographical diversity and religious diversity as well.

now yer talkin’

I’ve been saying this for years.

In the academy, it’s always considered bad form to hire your own doctoral students into your tenure track. It’s also considered poor form to hire the majority of your faculty out of the same program. Diversity (up to a point) has long been recognized as a positive thing in academic disciplines.

The Supreme Court of the United States isn’t dominated by the Ivy League: it’s dominated by two schools in the Ivy League. Harvard and Yale. Right now, the only Justice not affiliated with Harvard or Yale is the Handmaid, and she went to Notre Dame. These people do the legal equivalent of post-doctoral fellowships at the Supreme Court and/or the DC Court of Appeals. They are in the chambers of judges who went to the same schools they themselves attended.

Law school and clerkships are where people learn to think about the law as an intellectual discipline. These people are only exposed to a couple of ways of thinking that way. It’s not a good thing.

Yes. I am a retired academic and understand exactly what you are saying.

Pelosi is my congress critter and so I’m usually tuned into what she does and says and what goes on around her. This was so so low and so gross, I’m afraid I can’t get it out of my mind mainly because of this part which most reports don’t mention because they’re all snowflakes. He defecated in her office, after all, his excuse for being there at all was that he was looking for the men’s room.

Jane Wyatt was the mother who knew best. Jane Wyman was an actress also known for being married to Ronnie Reagan and making soap-opera like films, Magnificent Obsession and All That Heaven Allows to name two.

but the same problem.

Vonnegut and Twain were two of Matt’s favorite writers, he quoted them every so often, so now for a while I’ll be thinking of him which isn’t all bad.
