State Dept Orders Sondland Not To Appear For Testimony Before House

The lesson of the Trump Admin continues to be you can get away with a lot of crimes if you’re completely shameless and have the DOJ in your pocket.

At least one of them is now praying he never has to say that out loud.

Bless their little black hearts…THIS doesn’t make them look guilty AT ALL! Grifting twits.

Are you absolutely sure about that, being either a SME or relying on the word of those who are? They can’t get the courts to compel testimony and evidence? Makes no sense to me and makes congress being a co-equal branch with oversight powers a dead letter subject only to electoral enforcement.

I believe the store is being pillaged while the employees are tied up in the back

A vote isn’t required to initiate an inquiry. You have fallen for a Trump GOP talking point.

That said, Pelosi can hold such a vote. Nothing is stopping her, even if it isn’t necessary.

Yes.

(Hope this helps!)

And she would deserve it.

The slow walking is going to continue. During Watergate the impeachment panel went directly to the Supreme Court in April and by the end of July they had an order for Nixon to turn over the tapes. While some may be skeptical of the current court, the Dems ought to give it a shot. Time to go big?

It all only works if the executive branch actually is in favor of the rule of law. We’re now seeing what happens when that isn’t that case.

It would appear that the only way around this is to go ahead and vote articles of impeachment, and add failure to provide witnesses as one more reason for impeachment.

Apropos of everything, I just find this whole subservient “Chill, Nancy/Obama/Adam/Dems’ got it” attitude to be creepy, revolting and idiotic. Intelligent people don’t do blind loyalty, to anyone or anything. That’s more in line with fascist followership and inherently anti-democratic.

These guys should maybe have noticed how things are working out for the Kurds.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

You mean like when the House found Barr and Ross in contempt in July… and DOJ declined to press charges.

Get real. The House relies on DOJ to enforce their orders. Under Barr, ain’t nothing gonna happen.

I’m afraid I’m being a little bit sarcastic. Obviously read too much MAD Magazine as a kid. In fact it seems that when you have a totally corrupt administration the legislative side doesn’t have a whole lot of toothy options when it’s stonewalled. The law is both obscure and complex on this and I sure don’t know it well, but it seems mostly a myth that there’s a Congress Cop who will put you in Congress Jail down in the basement of the Capitol next to the broom closet if you don’t respond to their subpoena. I don’t know myself and welcome instruction but it seems the likeliest chance for these crooks to face real consequences is when the Executive changes and gets cleaned up.

At any rate, any direction has to lawful.
