State Dept Orders Sondland Not To Appear For Testimony Before House

Just one hour before the House was set to depose U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, the State Department ordered the ambassador not to appear before the committees leading the impeachment inquiry, CNN reported.

Well, surprise, surprise!! The only way he can testify is if he resigns, which will take courage and a willingness to take punishment for the good of his country. Since he is a Republican, there is zero chance of that happening. Another PIG (profile in gutlessness).

President Trump orders Legislative and Judicial branches of government to take the month off. “Sleep in, catch a show, enjoy yerselves,” he implored.

I guess this means Pelosi and Schiff will have to hold a presser where they express their profound disappointment in the President, followed by much finger wagging and harrumphs.

“He is a sitting ambassador, an employee of State, and is required to follow their direction,” Sondland’s attorney Robert Luskin told CNN Tuesday.

Predictably inaccurate.

Timing is great
Obstruction is exquisite

Sondland just blew his one chance at being a cooperating witness as opposed to a co-conspirator. Add his name to the list of people to indict.

There is something wrong with our government if everyone can defy subpoenas, not show up to testify, etc. So much for 3 co-equal branches of Government.

Well, now we know why those House Democrats were calling for Sondland to resign…

Color me shocked…but more Obstruction to Congress evidence.

So when is the Inherent Contempt of Congress going to finally be used?

I suggest starting with fines like 50k per day of delay or 1% of income, whichever is higher. After all, with so many criminals to investigate, Congress will need the funds!

See text messages in Politico article:
It appears that behind close doors and with GOPers, Sondland KNEW that aid was leveraged by Trump but with career diplomat Taylor, he lies and covers up for Trump.

Pompeo must have heard that he was planning on telling the truth.

Don’t forget the strongly worded letters.

Today would be a great day for that.

I presume we’ll hear shortly about how total obstruction and refusal to provide a single witness or a scrap of paper is all slow-walking Nancy’s fault.

While this is another ground for impeachment, it also needs quick action. Schiff should find inherent contempt, and have Sondland arrested, fined, and imprisoned. Pompeo should also be held in inherent contempt, since he is the one unlawfully obstructing testimony from Sondland.

Step it up a notch, Dems. Support for impeachment is growing and stern measures will resonate well.

If Sonland has brains, he’ll call Adam Schiff on the sly, and arrange to meet in a parking garage near the Capitol.

Too be fair obstruction has been working very well for Trump. I may be mistaken, but I do not think a single House committee has filed a contempt of Congress citation, against anyone for any refusal of any nature. It’s as if a school kid told their teacher, every day, the dog ate my homework. And the teacher’s response was “Well, whatcha gonna do? I guess have a seat, Donnie, we’ll get started with today’s lesson.”

Ok when is the press going to ask the WH, what are you afraid of?
I know, I jest as if the press would do their job!

I’ll say one thing for this shit show, it sure is a good time to be an attorney in the DC area. They’ve probably never been so busy and it doesn’t matter if you’re even competent.
