South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg (R), having been handed misdemeanor charges last week for fatally hitting a pedestrian with his car, could be staring down the barrel of impeachment by the overwhelmingly Republican state legislature.
The 12 hour lag is the key. Some low level tests for alcohol won’t detect anything once alcohol has been processed by the body. Since labs aren’t indicating what exams were used, this still seems very likely that he drove under the influence and hid to sober up before contacting police.
But who are we kidding. He’ s a ® in a very ® state. He’ll just blame Antifa and be exonerated…
I don’t know why anyone in the South Dakota legislature would want to continue to be embarrassed by the presence of this dude as their Attorney General. For that reason alone, there is a non-trivial chance that he’ll get tossed.
I read into his comment that he’s praying that Boever’s family doesn’t sue him.
Now OTOH it seems strange that SD Republicans are looking to hold Ravensborg accountable for his “inattention”. I wonder since this is SD and all, that Boever was known Republican and not a Dem.
Yeah, it’s not like they can’t put another stooge into the office to do the same shit. Why let the worthless shitstain taint the already rotting corpse of the QOP in SD?
Some republican legislators might actually vote according to what’s right, but my guess is that there could be a lot of score-settling. You don’t get to a position like that without making enemies, and being an ongoing embarrassment to the state tends to make even more enemies. I wonder how the procedure will go. It might be interesting if they have to take any additional testimony, say from attendees or bartenders at the fundraiser.
Yeah, someone is already on the record as saying he hadn’t been drinking anything as I recall. This whole thing stinks to high heaven in the manner it’s been handled since the sheriff gave him a car to drive home that night.
Anybody with a sense of decency in that position would have resigned by now just because of the optics. But I guess he’s got bigger goals in his life that can’t be ignored despite being responsible for a man’s death.
This scum did a hit and run. His vehicle was damaged so he knows he hit something. He may not have showed a high blood alcohol level the next day, but we know nothing about what it was at the time of the vehicular homicide.
Deny, deny, delay, delay, and never resign your cushy benefits-laden protected public office. It has become much easier to be a crook in office than ever before, in fact you are protected it seems. Used to be public officials did the RIGHT thing when they got caught, now Republicans count on death-threat-voter-base to be their first line of defense.
