The Supreme Court heard a case Tuesday that the conservatives could use to significantly reduce the enforceability of major social safety net programs like Medicaid.
“We have standing precedent and you’re asking us to overrule it,” she said to Indiana’s solicitor general. “Neither the federal government nor the states can possibly investigate and remedy every violation of these rights that are given to people. 1983 speaks clearly: they have a judicial remedy — why shouldn’t we just respect our precedent?”
Precedent means nothing to the majority on the SCOTUS anymore. So, they will throw this out just like they have Dobbs and what’s to come on the other ‘settled law’ cases that are before the court.
Most Americans see the court for what it is. Hopefully, today will be a wakeup call for all of them.
Medicaid beneficiaries do not deserve a judicial process of redress when they do not receive what they are entitled by law to receive. Because, they do not deserve the entitlement in the first place.
Somehow, that statement strikes numerous SCOTUS justices as an entirely reasonable and fair claim and will determine their decisio, justice, precedent, and the law be damned.
Now that the Repubs have destroyed Roe and will have a supply of children for low paying, slavery like, jobs health care for the poor is a waste of money.
Maybe they could get another tax cut for the wealthy?
“People have been showing a marked lack of respect towards this august body,” Alito continued. "Some have gone so far as to posit that the majority on this court simply hate humanity, especially if it is not white and poor.
Hey! The Court is defending my right to give shitty service – pardon my French – including my right to give the wrong medication to a helpless patient, without consequence. Where’s @theghostofeustacetilley when you need it ; - )
