Same here in Texas. A significant part of this spike is in people in their 20s and 30s.
Yuh-huh it can. It is a message from the God of Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
Being an atheist, it would be disingenuous of me to say it’s because God’s on their side… ; )
(although it’s fun to say it - ironic take on the Bob Dylan song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y2FuDY6Q4M)
So, it is most likely enough were wearing masks and distancing to mitigate the spread of the virus…
My younger sister is just completing chemo for lung cancer so very immuno-compromised. Sounds like her routine. Works for them. Do what makes you feel like you are doing what you can. Isn’t that what we all try to do (even before pandemic). Take care.
The primary viral transmission is by large droplet aerosols which disperse rapidly outside but are recirculated endlessly indoors. If we had simply recognized this FACT and had everyone in masks when in public places in March, COVID-19 would have been effectively contained. The Mayors in cities like Miami, Orlando, LA, etc. are now citing people for going out in public without masks - $500 fine and 6 months in jail in Miami. Good on them. You can’t walk around in public with no clothes on, so why is mandatory mask-wearing even a thing ?
The Administration’s unwillingness to publish these findings early on and encourage everyone to wear masks is why the Mayors are forced to take these actions today and we are still dealing with thousands of cases today.
The blame falls on Trump personally, but I also blame the CDC who discouraged mask-wearing in the early days of this thing, due to the potential strain on PPE supplies for caregivers. The issue was never about whether the masks were effective - of course they were better than nothing. The issue was would the public rush out and buy up all the masks and deny PPE to healthcare workers. The CDC should have BOTH pushed everyone to wear masks from Day 1 AND pushed the rest of the Administration (DoD with DX contracting power), much harder to get PPE for all healthcare workers. They did neither, probably due to “acro-trumpo-phobia”, ie. the fear of “fucking morons” in high places.
So…Why Hasn’t There Been A COVID Spike From The Protests?
Because the Coronavirus respects Righteousness.
ETA: Perhaps all of the various forms of tear gas kill or suppress the Coronavirus?
Maybe because God is on their side. (Feel free to pass this on to those who deserve to hear it.)
Never mind. Just preaching to the choir.
Oh you mean the ammosexual Babies showing up maskless to scream about lack of access to hair cuts.
Thanks for those laughs. Nite.
Thanks much!
I give up
I have tried to make the damn pages work for the NYT covid stuff even after giving my alternate email account. Not your fault. but the pages don’t load and the goddamned site relentlessly demands money even after crowing that I can read for free if I submit my email address. No, this is bullshit treatment of a very serious subject. Maybe you can make it work, I cannot and I gave a good try. After this debacle NYT is off my list of places to go for information. Fuck them.
But I am appreciative you took the time to put up that link.
You are assuming that HEPA filters are being used. And Legionnaires disease was spread by A/C. Don’t forget the meat packing plants. Cool damp air is the condition COVID-19 seems to like.
As I recall, one cluster outbreak in Wuhan was traced to one restaurant and it’s AC system.
Today was 108, tomorrow will be 110
Death to viruses!!!
To show those graphs, did you poke and drag them off the NYT website? It will not work for me. Maybe I’m ham handed and missing something.
Morte ad Virus
T-shirt worthy?
From the LA Times story on California hitting a daily record for new coronavirus cases:
“L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer has said that while it is impossible to track the origin of spread in a public setting, it is ‘highly likely’ that the overall increase is related to mass protests that erupted over the death of George Floyd as well as clusters of social gatherings at restaurants and private parties.”
There’s a t-shirt shop here in Tucson. They may be doing some printing for me…
This seems like a clear case of counting chickens before they hatch. We don’t know how, if at all, the protests may affect covid numbers. That’s not a value judgment; that is the science as I understand things. Example, Georgia and Texas opened up in April, and it’s only now that it looks as if the s. . . is hitting the fan.
It is a dry heat - just don’t stand in direct sunlight, and you should be fine.
Sorry, but I lived in El Paso for 15 years. I’d rather have 110 with 20% humidity than 85 with 85% humidity.
