This is why treating the 1/6 terrorists as though they were just trespassers is a huge mistake. They should have all been charged with felony murder for the death of Ashli Babbitt. They should make examples of these people or we’re going to lose America.

Chances are he wasn’t an asshole only to black reporters.

Someone will ID him today.

Do they plan to deputize the POI?

It doesn’t sound like the rally was a show of support for the first amendment.

Slovenly dressed, middle aged, angry fat white guys; the new American norm.

Anybody else feel like the country is in a death spiral? Or are we merely riding shotgun down the avalanche?

Pursuit of the perps in these kinds of assaults needs to be intense. A for-profit news media model, and the kinds of rhetorical framing it favors, could be traced to some of the problems in this country but it’s what we’ve got and, laws against individual assault aside, protection must be strong enough to deter suppression.

WRT the drawbacks of our media model and the silos it creates (including its own), it took an Australian news organization to agressively investigate and report on Fox and the Big Lie.

“There’s no reporting, Brendan,” Cerone said. “We don’t authorize that."

Why do so many people think this is how news coverage works? If you’re in public, you’re in public, doing stuff publicly.

And isn’t the point of a rally to get publicity?

Only from their reporters so they can control what is said about them. These fascism rules are pretty strict about that stuff.

I feel like the Union is rumbling, about to come unglued in violent fashion again. Starting to think we’re a lot like those countries artificially sewn together by colonizers, only we did it to ourselves in the 1860s.

Brendan Quealy, a reporter for the Traverse City Record-Eagle…

On that audio, people can be heard yelling at Quaely…

Is his name spelled “Quealy” or “Quaely?”

Bound to be one of them!

Nah. The behavior you’re seeing is not the behavior of a bunch of people who think they’re winning.

'Cause they’re losing. Demographically, politically, just-everyday-folks-ally, definitely losing.

Assaulting reporters started in Trumpworld during his run for President. And because every Trumper thinks that what he could do they can do, and then it escalates.
I think it would interesting to know if the group had a permit for the pavilion in a public park. Pro tip if you want your meeting to be kept private then don’t hold it on public grounds.

Now, now he should at least give him credit that he’s not wearing socks with sandals.

Perhaps the sheriff should ask Ms Cerone who the fat guys are.

Given that all these folks seem to be on a first-name basis with each other, it doesn’t seem like the investigation ought to take very long.

If any of these MAGATs ever understood what our Constitution, democracy and simple rational thought were, we would not be where we are presently. If there were really laws that allowed incarceration for rank stupidity and willful ignorance, we would have to build 100s more prisons.
