Senate Republicans Use Procedural Stunts To Try To Block Subpoenas Of Leo And Crow

Senate Judiciary Republicans on Thursday invoked a rarely used rule to try to run down the clock and prevent committee Democrats from voting to authorize subpoenas for right-wing power players Leonard Leo and Harlan Crow.

All these stupid shenanigans tire me out.

I assume that Leo and Crow will just ignore/stall (can they not?) so why bother?

Ranking member Lindsey Graham (R-SC) [called] the subpoenas a “never-ending effort to delegitimize this court.”

Call me crazy, but I think weeping with rage about how much you like beer, being a handmaid, and going on junkets and to a boys’ pissing club in the California woods already did that. Among, you know, other things.

Poor, poor Lindsey. He’s so lost.

Of course they will ignore. They have precedent in Gym Jordan and all the rest of the nincompoops.

Lindsay can dance and distract, fake a broken wing and squawk all he wants, but everyone knows who these two are now.

When McConnell refused to take a vote on Garland and then 4 years later rushed through Amy Barrett like an emergency appendectomy, the court was delegitimized in my eyes completely. And then Lindsey tried to be cute about going completely 180 on a sworn promise he made in public to not do that. To see this small man try to be righteously indignant about anything and talk about any kind of legitimacy makes my brain hurt with the hypocrisy. He has raised his game of devious, irresponsible and treacherous lying and bullshit to a whole new level in the last 9 years.

I really despise him.

Politicians like Graham are one reason politics is often held in low esteem: faithless, feckless, dissemblers polluting the civic waters.

Congressional subpoenas have been shown recently to be about as meaningful as an IOU from tfg. The rule of law and standard norms of conduct don’t exist for the treason side, so I don’t get what Lindsey is whining about. Maybe he’s afraid that Clarence and Ginni will show up at his apartment in the middle of the night and make him eat them.

Because the water carriers have to very dramatically carry the water or they will go thirsty. This is their basic duty to their oligarchs.

"‘I will not cooperate with this unlawful campaign of political retribution.’” Grant for the sake of argument that this is a “campaign of political retribution”; what exactly makes it “unlawful”? You’d think Leo of all people wouldn’t carelessly throw around the word “unlawful.”

Alleged failure to comply with the 2-hour rule.

Leo Leonard is the point man for the corruption of the court. He, on behalf of his employers like Crow and others, works tirelessly to corrupt the judiciary. From mighty Justices like Alito and Thomas to pipsqueak Judges like Cannon, Leo Leonard has done everything humanly possible to assure the American judciary is in the bag for the rich and powerful.

I thought they were within the 2 hour limit. The article isn’t clear about the reason given, but I assume Cruz would claim there was no quorum after the nimrods left.

Notice how Republicans don’t want to explain and/or defend their actions? It’s almost like we’re already in an authoritarian mode of governing.

Lindsey, certain justices already on the court, ones that YOU voted to confirm, have already done a pretty good job of de-legitimizing the court all by themselves.

It’s depressing that the Democrats are so befuddled and taken aback by this crap.

Ffs Dick, just take the vote, stop playing with yourself and get the ball rolling.

You can’t enforce a subpoena if you don’t, you know, issue one.

Comity is dead in the Senate, Mitch flipped the switch and traitors like Graham and Kennedy and Hawley and Grassley piled on until the body stopped twitching.
