SDNY: Investigation Into Giuliani Pals’ Campaign Finance Violations Is Ongoing

The Southern District of New York’s investigation into the actions of associates of Rudy Giuliani who violated campaign finance laws is ongoing, SDNY U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman said Thursday, following the arrest of the two Giuliani allies the night before.

I’ll bet they were just going to get the CrowdStrike server and the Deep Staters stopped them just in time!

I think it’s important to remember that there is plenty of clear and indisputable evidence that much, if not all, the U.S. Justice system is deeply hostile towards criminals and traitors. These guys should just refuse to participate in such a slanted and unfair investigation.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

protecting our elections from unlawful foreign influence are core functions of our campaign finance laws

We are about to witness a bumper crop of new and improved definitions of what constitutes an “other thing of value” in connection with a Federal election.

It must be driving Trump even more batshit crazy that it’s the SDNY where he can’t just direct Barr to quash the investigations without being exposed, and he has no pardon power for a state corruption charge.

This isn’t exactly how I thought the SDNY would eventually be in the news regarding Trump, but it’s good enough for today!

How does one put a dollar sign on US democracy? On US moral authority? On US sovereignty?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, one cannot. These are priceless elements of our heritage and doing so would be an insult!

Unfortunately if one cannot put a dollar sign on it, it also means we cannot evaluate it, and so it does not meet the definition of “something of value.” So the fact that Trump bartered them all for his own benefit does not meet the strict definition of a crime.

Honestly the DOJ standard now seems to be that — their crime is too big to have ordinary laws apply.

Not sure I follow your logic here. Trump has no concern about being exposed. He can order Barr to kill it and then simply repeat his nonsense about witch hunts and a coup to remove the duly elected president, which will be repeated ad nauseam by the usual suspects.

I’m not aware of any pending state corruption charges in NY or any other state.

I thought Rudy was just a fool who was doing most of the dirty stoopid mop-up and grunt-work, kissing CHumps ass. But it looks like he had a hand in orchestrating a lot of this. I guess Mastermind is too kind, but what a venal, evil fukk this dude is…cooking up a lot of it on his own. He has more “juice” than I gave him credit for and he seems to have done a lot with what looks like very limited ability.

The two were meant to appear before House committees handling the impeachment inquiry on Thursday and Friday mornings.

I wonder if they will still be able to attend? Perhaps in jumpsuits? Seriously though, I wonder if they still will testify.

Can’t someone ask Berman how much ‘handling’ of this is involved with Barr, and to make assurances that Barr isn’t calling shots or restricting scope or pulling the strings on the whole thing? Make Berman answer, get him on record, get him to promise to report any such meddling, and put his balls in a vice somewhat? I mean, every single DOJ action should be heavily scrutinized by the media and have Barr’s name mentioned as often as possible until that bastard is sidelined.

The point is that SDNY doesn’t answer directly to Barr, and can independently indict and arrest if he doesn’t get a chance to quash it first. This was the link to state corruption charges in the TPM article for this thread:

Notably, the SDNY’s public corruption unit is involved in the investigation — the same unit of prosecutors that handled the SDNY’s case against Michael Cohen’s as well as other cases related to the Russian election interference.

So let it be written, so let it be done, as decreed by Barr’s supplicants in the DoJ. However, if you use the basic principle of presumed equivalence then, as @sniffit pointed out in another thread, Trump valued his requested favor from Zelensky at $391 million. The same logic could be used to determine the value of any other non-monetary contribution.
