Apologies if any of this is upthread.
Here we have evidence that Lindsey Graham was working to free the same financial crook Rudy was so concerned about, Reza Zarrab. Someone at DOJ should pull on this string.

I think we’re going to have reorder the casting for the live performance of

The SDNY is a Federal court, its operations are overseen by Barr, and its US Attorney exercises his prosecutorial authority under the supervision and direction of Barr.

This one is pretty clear cut. They were masking as a front operation to pour Russian money into election coffers. Trump’s Super PAC being target #1.

Its all the same crime as we started with in 2016. All of it is just a continuation of the same damn thing.

Now the real fun begins very soon. Because, while Trump’s Super PAC can shrug their shoulders and say they had no idea, these guys are involved neck deep into Guiliani’s ratfuckery in the Ukraine…and Trump can’t turn a blind eye to that. So he either has to own these guys, which means owning illegally taking money from Russia, or he has to disown them, which means turning them against Guiliani and himself on the Ukrainian scandal.

Two most common quotes heard in Washington restaurants today:

“Do you have any Immodium?”

“How much is it going to cost me to make this go away?”

Or in terms even a Trump supporter might understand, Trump’s between a rock and a hard place.

I read most of what Will says here, and it seems to me he still doesn’t really understand the DEPTHS to which these people are stooping. Nay, not stooping…they are using a tunnel boring machine to go BELOW the criminal underworld.

If Rudy is brought in to testify, it is hard for me not to picture him strapped to a hand truck with a hockey mask on and an IV of fine scotch running at a slow, steady rate to keep him from going into the DTs. His batshittery is about to get battier and shittier.

Yes it’s Federal, but they can still act with a degree of independence if Barr doesn’t get wind of it first, and these arrests are evidence of that.

Can anyone help provide a nice pithy comeback Dems can use? Joni Ernst attacked Pelosi again today, saying Dems are trying to re-litigate the 2016 election. Chump and his surrogates say it almost every day.

I say we should say “Sure. What would you do if you found that the elections were compromised, the winner asked for and used foreign help, and every single piece of evidence uncovered since then proves he runs a criminal enterprise. Every single person we find close to his campaign, family, and his own person is a Russian influence peddler and money-launderer? You want to call that re-litigating 2016 fine…it’s all part of the same Big Crime.”

Or disown them publicly, while his personal lawyer assures them that pardons are on the table for keeping their mouths shut.

How about. We’re investigating crimes committed by trump to corrupt the election and is actively corrupting the next one. What are you doing about that?

Umm…I think that’s a little wordy to be classified as “pithy”.

How about “American elections are about Americans. Not foreigners”.

I say its the same crime, because it is. But our messaging doesn’t need to go there. Keep it Simple and Current. And if Ms PigNuts wants to oink about re-litigating elections, just paint her as someone busy stuffing her snout into the trough trying to get her own Russian meal ticket.

Oh boy. Pardoning them for illegally funneling Russian money into his campaign?

Yeah, I don’t think that’s going to fly, even for Trump.

well I did say I was asking for suggestions. I feel, we should address their main talking point…that we are re-litigating 2016. “Damn Straight we are! We might get Kavanaugh and some other shit repealed too if you don’t shut yer hole!”

I agree that it wouldn’t work in practice. It is a third option though, and one I have no doubt that Stable Genius and his personal lawyer are seriously considering.

Maybe…but they would be extremely foolish to even contemplate that at this juncture.

This entire Ukrainian scandal is growing incredibly toxic, incredibly quick. If Trump even starts publicly saying he is considering pardons, he will lose even more republicans.

Like I said, this one is a real pickle for him, because he has problems either way he goes on it. Probably why he hasn’t taken to twitter yet this afternoon.
