In yet more late-night happenings, most of the conservative contingent of the Supreme Court let the Texas abortion ban stand just before midnight Wednesday.

Vigilante standing is not a thing that the Texas state courts are going to validate. Record a “heartbeat,” abort that fetus, and dare the SOB’s to come after you.

Just in case anyone doubted that Trumpism has metastasized in our body politic.

With all due respect, every time we think it’s not going to happen, it … often does. Also, which provider is willing to take that chance?

The Taliban is now in control of Afghanistan and Texas.

No offense but this event is pretty much over.

How does this rate a live blog? I don’t get it. The decision is already handed down. It’s not like anything else is going to happen other than a lot of outrage from those of us who thought nothing would come of the T**** assignments to the SC.

Not sure how this rates a live blog when other stories that were still evolving did not.

On the very tiny upside, perhaps this will do in Abbot next year?

Not with the addition of the voter suppression laws that are now in place.

This really is a huge win for the GQP. I’m not sure how the State recovers from this.

Joe needs to summon Manch, Sinema, head of DSCC, Gary Peters and Leader Schumer o the WH.

NOW.

Order of Business 1:
Biden: “Joe, Krysten, you will come out in support of killing Filibuster for Court Reform and Voting Rights or Gary here, has given you you last dime and is recruiting Primary challengers, I will back those challengers I will recruit w/Gary and Chuck.”

Order of Business 2:
Biden: "Chuck here is reviewing your commitee assignments and who will replace you on those committees should the Order of business #1 not be taken seriously.

Joe didn’t pussyfoot around with Afghanistan, this is every bit as dire.

Beats me, I don’t know any of them. But it’s a choice (ha!) between going out of business and voluntarily denying health care to women who need it, or taking a $10k risk – undoubtedly with a free legal defense provided by civic-minded attorneys and any number of people willing to cover the $10k downside – in order to fight back against this dumb paper tiger of a law.

This isn’t going to be dealt with locally in Texas. The Republicans have rigged elections so only they can be elected. The only way this is handled is with a national solution. That means we all have to do everything we can to mobilize voters to sweep the Republicans from Congress in 2022, add Justices to the Supreme Court who won’t vote their religious convictions and pass laws allowing abortion access across the country. It is time for this particular social agenda fundraiser to end and for American women to have their rights and needs addressed.

Democratic states should cut off diplomatic relations w/ Texas. Ban official travel to Texas. Cut every contract or negotiation.

Texas needs the South Africa Aparthied treatment.

Anything short misses the mark

This is how the Federalist Society and ALEC gambit have worked hand in hand for decades to destroy American democracy and create the permanent minority-rules white Christian hegemony that is the entire GQP project.

What’s to stop TX, or other states, from writing similar laws deputizing people who believe someone is aiding and abetting a gun confiscation, or some other deemed violation on the 2nd Amendment? What’s to stop them from doing this for people they believe are “helping” “illegals” vote, or get food?

Back to this – can uber drivers and cab drivers who drive them to clinics get sued? What about convenience store owners who sell them the gas used? What about car mechanics who fix the car’s brakes when that car is used to go to a Planned Parenthood? Where does “aid” start and stop, legally?

He should also deploy the National Guard around any remaining clinics and doctor’s offices and freeze the bank accounts of anyone suing under the TX law while DOJ investigates them for violating others’ civil rights.

It’s time to meet the theocracy’s heavy handedness with an even heavier hand.

Yep, Joe needs to push this harder than anything else.

It is a core Democratic value. It is more than the previous and abuse filibuster. Coming is dead.

Now is the time to grab the momentum. We will never get court reform without a driver like this. If we don’t drive now, it gets normalized

An expanded SC…

Yes, it will. Seriously, SCOTX is probably going to take a very dim view of the Legislature’s attempt to confer legal standing on a bunch of randos to file lawsuits as a substitute for the state exercising its own damn authority. There is basically nothing the legislature can’t do if this dumb scheme is upheld, and SCOTX absolutely will not want to let that power ever devolve to the Democratic majority that they know is coming.

There it is, the Dumbest Possible Take.
