Scott Says FL Officials Need To Get People Off Beaches As DeSantis Refuses To Do So

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) wants those dang kids off his beach, but apparently Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) doesn’t despite the mass COVID-19 outbreak roiling the nation.

The French police are acting on people who resist staying at home. But, hey, we got Trump.

DeSantis is a Trump Toady, trying to show off for his Dear Orange Leader! Will someone tell the Irresponsible DeSantsi that he is NOT helping his Dear Leader’s numbers by spreading the virus more?

This is the height of RethugniCON IRRESPONSIBILITY!

It was reported in FL yesterday that they had a 6 year old boy infected with Covid-19!

Sadly, I don’t blame authorities for treading warily into this. This was bound to happen in a state where ‘stand your ground’ is standard operating procedure. And double sadly, I almost agree with Senator Scott…what could possibly be happening to me.

Alabama just closed them.

“Effective 7 a.m. tomorrow, all public beaches in Gulf Shores will close with a tentative reopen date of Monday, April 6. Additionally, we will be requesting the Baldwin County Commission, Town of Dauphin Island, and City of Orange Beach join us in asking Gov. Kay Ivey to close all Alabama beaches for the same time frame,” Craft said.

There are no words to describe how much I hate agreeing with Rick Scott about anything. But he’s right here and DeSantis is going to have blood on his hands.

You know the world is coming to an end when Skeletor Scott makes a sensible suggestion.

What could possibly happen when you mix many carefree youngin’s from all over the nation sharing all sorts of viruses and then in-town mingling with very old people all around them?

If this isn’t a textbook recipe for how to kill a bunch of olds, I dont know what is.

I just know in my heart of hearts that if Skeletor Scott was still Governor of FL he’d not being doing what he as a Senator is asking for.

Spring Break lasted just long enough to get the virus pot boiling.

Now they disperse…

Sucks to have to devote first responders to babysit that guy. I wonder if they could get a court ordered anklet, preferably with a speaker that shouts “I HAVE CORONAVIRUS” when he gets within 20 feet of anyone.

Yeah, but you gotta look beyond the headline to see what is going on here.

Scott making this statement actually makes it less likely that DeSantis moves on this. Because it gives the appearance that Scott is still running the state.

Which is undoubtedly why Scott did this; he certainly didn’t do it because he grew a functioning heart and human empathy overnight.

I’ll add, being in a place where tourism is the lion’s share of the revenue in my county, shutting down beach access here will be DEVASTATING to the economy. And that’s the other side of the coin that DeSantis has to deal with; Scott doesn’t.

Precisely! This is some internectine state GOP squabbling in the background, taking a national headlight.
