Scott Says FL Officials Need To Get People Off Beaches As DeSantis Refuses To Do So

Instead of the beach kids Mar-a-Lago is asshole friendly.

The lack of clear overarching federal instructions on matters like this are permitting viral incubators (aka those spring-break beaches) to thrive. Last I checked the phrases being bandied about were “consider shutting down gatherings of 10 or more people”, or even “strongly consider…”. If this can’t be ordered directly, at least stop parsing words in order to increase pressure on fools like DeSantis

Originally about Haiti, but so appropriate here.

“I mean, look, I don’t have all the same information that other people have,” the Republican said. “There’s a way you can walk on the beach by yourself.”

I suppose you could say the same thing for sex. Try getting a few hundred thousand 18-23 year old people to adhere to that.

The Amity Island beaches will stay open!

Still? would be miles and miles better.

Dick Scott ? The guy who would buy community hospitals … and then shut down their Emergency Rooms … thereby shunting all of the overwhelming ER burden & unprofitability off to the other hospitals in the community?
That Dick Scott?

In fairness, with sea level rise, Florida is only gonna have beaches remaining for Spring Break for a short period of time.

Gotta make money while they’re still there…

Like Trump, they don’t want to be the one who makes unpopular decisions, aka the adult in the room.

There are few adults in the republican party.

Social isolation and spring break. Four words that are commonly linked. In a few days all those morons are going back home carrying not just the virus but all sorts of STDs and unwanted pregnancies, compounding an already horrible situation. Of course, if you shut down spring break, the terrorists win.

Good for them.

That area attracts a lot of retirees during the winter and early spring; I imagine they took this decision to try to help protect older people, too.

Not just “the olds” (nice ageism there.)

1 in 5 of people under the age of 30 who contract COVID-19 will REQUIRE hospitalization, and 2/3rds of those hospitalized will die from it.

The IGNORANCE OF YOUTH WILL NOT PROTECT YOU.

Remember, as the Rush Song “Dreamline” says:

“We are Young, wandering the ways of the Earth.
Wondering what our Dreams might be worth.
Learning that we’re only immortal…
for a limited time.”

‘Take some personal responsibility here."

that’s rich coming from a trumpanzee

guess Floridians will now reap the rewards of Scott’s influence on health care, but I can guarantee that he won’t take any responsibility for the not so good parts

And if the people on the beach transmit the virus, and pass it on the Granny and Grandpa in The Villages?

Good move, Gov.
