Actually, I waited in the parking lot for my dog. The vet hasn’t allowed pet parents into his building since COVID began. We pull into the parking lot, call the office to let them know we’ve arrived, then wait for a staffer to collect the pet and take it inside. When the exam is over, the staffer collects my credit card, runs it to make sure I’ve not exceeded my limit, and then, all being well, returns my dog and my credit card to my car.
As for turtles being thrown out of planes, I was referring to one specific turtle. I love all the other turtles in the world and would never want even one of them to suffer.
I think if the ballot is sent to the place where the registered voter lives that’s proof enough. Just like when you forget a password you’re sent a link to your email for changing it. It’s not foolproof but most hackers and scammers don’t live at the same address as you or share a computer. (I know, there are people who spy on family mambers, etc.)
I used to be.
But having seen how the reactionary Bircher right has managed to convince the rest of them that it’s a matter of life and death(figuratively), I am convinced that the only way out now, is through.
So we need the fed to require states to find every single eligible person who lacks such an ID, and PROVIDE IT immediately.
I suspect it might help too, to specify that any municipal/county/state eligibility concerns are invalid for national contests - POTUS/VP.
And Senate races would require proving the voter is not a state resident.
House races would be harder, as at that point the address and locality do matter. But if there’s a way to establish that, then there’s no excuse for cutting them out of state/local voting either.
That should all be tied to a concept of “fraudulent disfranchisement” as a federal offense.(for federal elections)
“So Schumer is using one of the only tactics left to him: a war of attrition. He hopes that by bringing up a series of bill votes like the one Wednesday morning, he can make crystal clear to his two recalcitrant members that Republicans oppose and will continue to block all types of voting reform.”
