Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) praised the historic appointment of retired Lt. Gen. Karen Gibson as the Senate’s sergeant-at-arms, following her swearing-in as the chief law enforcement in the chamber on Monday.
“This will be the first time in history of the Senate that the leadership of the Sergeant-at-Arms will be comprised entirely of women,” Schumer said.
Oh dear – poor little Tucker is going to be déconsolé. So many women in positions of authority. He will probably have to buy a bigger gun to compensate.
The gun would probably be just like his Canadian girlfriend. He might talk about it a lot, but having a real one around would probably scare the bejeezes out of him.
The article mentioned that the Capitol Police failed to stop the mob from over running the Capitol on 1/06. All things considered, they were overwhelmed by a sustained onslaught for hours before the criminals broke through their lines and into the building. The fault was a gross error of failing to prepare for the number and intent of the insurrectionists who had been organizing and planning for months to do just what they did. The resignations of managers that followed simply provided cover for the real organizers. When the Police Officers holding the line called for backup, there wasn’t nearly enough available.
Funny how Trump could call in soldiers in a matter of moments to gas nuns so he could get a photo op, but when things hit the fan, he couldn’t be bothered to quit watching his minions on the teevee.
Mitch and Rand and Ron and all their little friends will now be protected by people who know how to get that done. If their testicles continue to shrivel at that thought, so be it. The chest-thumpers are going to have to get used to the thought that there are people better than they are, who won’t allow renegades to run wild and bust up the place.
In a Senate floor speech, Schumer cited Gibson’s work with retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré for a comprehensive review on Capitol security since the day of the deadly Capitol insurrection.
I can’t say I know much about Lt. Gen. Gibson, but if she worked closely with Lt. Gen. Honore, that’s good enough for me. But somewhere, Qevin McCarthy is soiling himself at this news.
